Vintage Bath Towels

I have a collection of vintage terry bath towels from the fifties and sixties. Besides their quaint patterns and stripes, they often were decorated with a crochet trim at the hem that I find a little irresistable.

This non-terry towel with the applique detail is possibly even earlier, and I would love to have a dozen of them.

Vintage terry towels are found at thrift stores for practically nothing. They are our outside towels for water play, or for setting down on a wet chair, or one that hasn't been sprayed off after days in the weather.

They bring a cheery no fuss cottage house mood to the place in summer. We always have stacks of them in the main bath. Their built in nostalgia is just an added bonus.

Have a soft and lovely Summer Weekend inside or out!
Ciao! for now!

  2. Jacqueline, they are so beautiful. I remember Mother & G'ma Maggie & G'ma Cora crocheting these trims on the edges of pillowcases & towels, hours on end in the evenings. So love them ...

    Happy PS weekend ~

  7. Hi J,
So sweet!! The yo yo (?) applique detail is DARLING!! I think a lot of crafty women have lived in your parts, because I rarely see such fun handiwork! The flowers are a PERFECT match!!
Is Lo'ocitane new or or they an old company? I love there lotions... but have never seen rose:-))
Thanks for the summery wishes, the blue skies burst open today, I haven't seen them in DAYS! You must be in charge of the weather or have insider info... haha:-)

  24. Happy Pink Saturday Jacqueline sweetie...
Oh my what beauty my eyes behold here today. I so adore seeing the beautiful embroidery work and the little yo-yo flowers added to the towels for beauty. A girl can never have to many linens, and PINK of course is the best. (I just redid my bathroom in neopolitan colors and just love it.) Who would have thought?

Thank you for sharing your beauty around you today. I so enjoyed my visit. Have a gorgeous weekend sweet friend. Many country hugs from Phoenix, Sherry
