After trying out a seascape painting in the snuggery, which you can view here, I went after all with a botanical engraving that once hung in Mr. C&C's grandmother's house in San Francisco. While it feels more formal than I'm aiming for, it brings more of a light summer conservatory feeling to the room.
A Victorian double birdcage from a European estate now replaces a cabinet top vignette that was heavier and busier, and lends an airy note to the corner.
Many of the same accents remain in the room since the hot weather arrived, but they have been pared down further for the season. I've never liked furniture lining the walls, and have kept a conversation arrangement in the center of the room. But with so many visitors this week, I have pushed everything back, and am loving the newly created open space.
Since the sitting room is still quite small, all the white helps to expand the room. But with all of our outdoor spaces available this time of year, this room certainly takes a back seat for entertaining. It's a great place to escape the activity for a nap or a book. A quiet spot to beat the heat. And it's still laptop central for me.
Wishing you a Happy Holiday from my cool summer hideaway!
(Wish it was a lake house!)
Ciao! for now!
