Mother's Day Brunch

I must have been feeling exuberant when I planned this table because it has much more color than is customary for me. I think I will try this tablecloth again with all white dishes on top. But today I'm loving the green patterned bowls from Anthropologie.

I've been using this color scheme on the patio all season, but I think my camera is intensifying and isolating the rose color here. It feels much more toned down in person. But the combination is certainly cheery!

Hydrangeas center the scene until we all sit down for food and conversation.

This patio will soon be too hot for much of the day, but for spring we are enjoying a bit of a garden theme here.

I like the organic nature of these hand painted bowls. The shape is uneven and has a pleasing heft and flow to it. They are perfect for a substantial cold salad.

Large damask lap napkins are vintage monogrammed linen.

A few garden seeds in flower frogs serve as favors, and gift cards from Simply Shabby Chic stand in for place cards.

The table cover is a vintage fifties cotton print layered over a couple of others for padding and a little flirty underskirt.

Such a wonderful time of year! And perfect weather for a lovely Mother's Day brunch.

A vintage McCoy cachepot for the flowers, and bistro glassware by Williams-Sonoma.

It's so nice to have you gathered around the table!
Stop by anytime!
I hope you're working up an appetite for a wonderful weekend!

Jacqueline

  11. Dear Jacqueline,
Your posts inspire me.. We cannot buy old lace or old tablecloths here. I have it on my list of things to look at when next in England. The old ladies here still crochet and make lace by hand..and even the linen table cloths.
Your mothers day table is lovely. I like the hand painted salad bowls.
Thanks for the invite for tea. wish i could just drop by.
    happy Thursday

  12. I love vintage tablecloths and many of mine from garage sales and eBay. Your outdoor area looks lovely! I have a huge backyard for a house in the middle of a city but have no idea when I will get to focusing on it. I have to figure out what the heck I really want to do with it first. I did plant an apple tree and some knock out roses so far. I know that I want to be able to enjoy it and sit down for meals during the warmer months like you do with your outdoor space.
