Sometimes I just need a little chippy and shabby time. Today it's out on the lawn. This old Russell Wright chair is on its last legs and now just romances the garden. The last time she was here my MIL took one look at this chair and pretty much missed the point. But it wasn't wearing tulips then. . . .
I don't suppose she would like the metal box much better.
But pink tulips are a bit more universal.
And here's a pile of decorating books to please almost everyone.
Chippy & shabby time anyone?
I'm sure there's more at
See you there!
Jacqueline
There are those who appreciate a bit of rust and chip and those who do not. I proudly stand in the first category. The metal box is delightful as I am into boxes. I found a lovely pink 1950's rusty utility cart this weekend.
ReplyDeleteLovin' these tulips!

LOVE!!
ReplyDeleteFunny my DH says the same thing about chippy shabby....I quit showing him most of the purdy shabbiness on blogs - he thinks we're all a little touched, haha.
Love this post, makes me so happy!
Your pictures make me happy. I can really see the perfection of the tulips with the chippiness of the chair!

The chippy, rusty chair is the perfect backdrop for your pretty pink tulips. I think my neighbors get confused when I bring "trash" INTO our house. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. :@
ReplyDeleteChippy and shabby is very polarizing--people either get it or they don't. I love the look of old shabby lawn furniture. The pink tulips are perfect with it.
ReplyDeleteDo you buy your tulips, or are they from your garden???
ReplyDeleteLovely...
Cheers
Lina :o)

ReplyDeleteYour mil may not have been impressed, but you've got me swooning! Beautiful post!
ReplyDeleteOld chair and old box, very charming. Petty pics. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteLove a bit of rust and a bit of chippy stuff. With the elegant tulips and lace to dress it up,who couldn't possibly like it? xx
ReplyDeleteA very "shabby chic " look for outside decor.. its lovely Jacqueline..
ReplyDeleteA good collection of books to read while taking afternoon tea.. with the tulips on the table..
Happy Thursday

My mother doesn't understand chippy, shabby, and rusty either. I guess you either love it or you don't :)
ReplyDeleteJust beautiful, Jacqueline! The tulips are so lovely and are just the perfect whisp of color. I hope you're having a lovely week!
ReplyDeletewe never get enough of the pretty soft white color in anything
ReplyDeletewanted to say hi and come enter my first giveaway on my little blog

Looks beautiful...but I look at my white metal chairs and I think ugly, not shabby chic.
ReplyDeleteHi Jacqueline: I'm commenting on the run but I just wanted to tell you that you really have a special eye for seeing things. I don't mean you are 'seeing things', just that you know how to look at something and show it to it's best advantage as in the handle of the box. Beautiful, and I love the shabbyiness of it all. The Captain says 'paint it' but guess who wins!.. Happy Wednesday..Judy
ReplyDeleteLove your stack of decorating books. I could spend a week just looking at all those. Great selection. I will check into my local library for a few.
ReplyDeleteJacqueline,
ReplyDeleteThis Chippy & Shabby magnicifient post reminded me of a sign I once read. "My mother and grandmother threw all this beautiful stuff out...now I'm at the local Flea Market buying it all back AND the two of them think I've lost my mind!" I, truly, get it!!!
Fondly,
Pat
I love that pile of books - so glad you showed the titles as I shall be adding one or two of them to my bookshelves:)
ReplyDeletenow, this set up would look lovely in a corner of my garden--just saying:) i totally get the point!
