Last July we visited family in Blaine, Washington, a beautiful little town near the Canadian border where this photo was taken. Though we live in a big city, I think I'm pretty small town at heart.
But I still get that yearning for a road trip this time of year. It's fun riding along and remembering those summer vacations before freeways, and auto air conditioning, and when everyone had a station wagon for the family car. Ours was a white Chevy.
We just took a mini vacation with some of our grandgirls and they reminded us of how all kids go into such ecstasy over a motel with a swimming pool! So many wonderful memories of other Julys.
Staying at home can be perfectly cozy too, where it often feels very small hometown. Here are scenes of other summer pleasures. . . .
Welcome to July!
I hope you're making more wonderful summer memories. . . .
Jacqueline

ReplyDeleteHi Jacqueline: Such wonderful photos of memories. Love that you have my beautiful pink flowered plates on your pretty chair. All you show certainly makes me think of one of the best months of the year..Happy 4th to you..Judy
ReplyDeleteWhat a gorgeous collection of July images!
ReplyDeleteGrowing up with only 4 television stations and no computers, we had to create our own summer fun. Looking at your photos reminded me of all the fun we had doing so.
ReplyDeleteBTW...a Ford station wagon drove us to summer destinations and the idea of a motel with a swimming pool was our idea of a perfect vacation regardless of where we landed.

Ahhhh... iced tea, and homemade peach ice cream from fresh peaches, and riding in the car with the windows down, trying to take a nap in the backseat on the way to the beach because the 4 hour drive was an eternity. (No seatbelts mind you) You captured the feel well in your photos... those red roses look so gorgeous the way you staged them with the plates and the white...

Such wonderful memories, Jacqueline, captured so beautifully in your photographs. I am a small town girl, too, but like you I try to create that feeling wherever I am.
