My mantel shelf is usually pretty understated. It has a narrow ledge. And I tend to like to keep it simple. All summer I've had this chippy architectural piece laying on it with just a couple of shells. But since Autumn seems a showy time of year, I've added a few things I'll enjoy looking at for a little while.
I always like nature prints, and haven't found another place yet for these moths I've had around. I'm thinking of black and white for Halloween, and they lean in that direction. I also have a furniture applique of oak leaves front and center that is usually at the hall tree by my front door.
I borrowed a nest from one of several that are usually displayed together, and a sampling of old books to give it height. A few more shells, and voila! It's Fall Y'all! As the season goes on we'll be tucking leaves, and feathers, and whatever else turns up into the mix too. After all, fall is the season for gathering in.
The painted wood was one of those pieces that the man at the junk shop asked me, "What are you going to do with it?" How many times have YOU been asked that question?
I hope you're enjoying settling in to Fall!
Ciao! for now!

Beautiful grouping on your mantel! I LOVE the moth print and the little chippy wood piece. I get asked often "aren't you going to paint it?". My husband quit asking me that several years ago. That's what we love--the chippy paint. Love your colors, white brown and black. Those are the fall colors I use.
ReplyDeleteLovin' your mantel and those prints are wonderful!!!
