I woke up to a day to match my mood. Dark and cloudy. Not that I'm feeling low. Only that I want to light a scented candle and curl up with a good book far into the day.
We don't get many of those Scandinavian-lit rooms perfect for candles in the daytime, so may as well take advantage of it.
Add a hot drink, and a pretty French pad of paper for list making, and after a good browse through beautiful pages, I remember what I'm really supposed to be doing. And I even get an inspired idea or two. Why can't every day start this way?
My latest brown transfer ware cup is a demitasse in a Spode pattern. I've looked for the Frenchy Fleur-de-Lis pattern ever since I saw it in the dining room scene where the family gathers 'round the table at Howard's End. I love all the rooms in all the houses of that film!
But today, more than English style, I'm thinking north country. Lovin' my new book Simply Scandinavian, by Sara Norrman.
This is the back cover. . . .
I'm also initiating my new linen pillow covers from Ikea. I love the ticking stripe liner!
I don't think there are too many days like this one for me ahead in the near future. The sun will come out tomorrow. But who can ever complain about that!?
Ciao! for now!
Jacqueline

I have days like that too. Sometimes I just do like you did, have my fave herbal vanilla tea, put on some nice music, and be alone with my thoughts.
ReplyDeleteThose pillow covers really came from IKEA??? I must make a trip! haha..they're LOVELY!

I make sure that all my days have a sweet dose of cozy inspirations....and paper, books, pens and pencils, coffee, don't forget the coffee......it fuels me, recharges me, renews my zest for life, for beauty, for creativity!
ReplyDeleteI think more women should sneak sessions like this into their routine, whenever possible. A little 'me' time can go a long way!
Beautiful post! Stunning, actually!

just returned from a lovely party given by my friend to introduce her new daughter-in-law to us. The hostess used some of her special pieces of brown transfer ware to hold the silver forks and vintage white linen napkins.

Oh, how I love your blog! I have just stumbled upon it by chance while doing a search on Scandinavian style...I am so glad to have found your beautiful blog!
ReplyDeleteThis post is LOVELY, and I enjoyed every bit of my visit here. Your home is gorgeous and the photos are inspiring! :)
I think one of the {many} reasons I am so drawn the Scandinavian style, is that here in the Seattle area, we have those long dark winters! Many, many dark, grey days here! You need the pale colors and light to get you through them! :)
Well, thank you for a lovely visit, and I hope you have a good night, and a beautiful Thursday! :)
Blessings,
Jenni
