American Beauty

How many Royal Albert teacup patterns do you suppose there are? And how many with roses?

I just added a beauty to my own small collection.

I keep a look out for teacups all the time, but hardly ever find them. Not so many in my local haunts. This one turned up at a local thrift store for eight dollars.

I was also thrilled to find a beautiful lace runner at another market. Just a corner of it was peeking out from under some things in an unlikely booth. Nice and long and in perfect condition.

I haven't been doing much with lace and teacups lately it seems. I think of it more as a lawn party thing. (I don't know why . . .)  But my new finds make me want to gather things up for a dainty table.

The saucer.

The teacup has such a different personality when seen from overhead. Can't wait to introduce her to her new friends!

In the meantime, I'm out finding more beauty!
Hope you are too!

Jacqueline

  3. I have the Lavender Rose Royal Albert pattern and this one that you have is the one my MIL had for years.
They are very pretty and I love hosting tea parties especially when we can sit outside in the garden when the roses are blooming. Have a great week! I enjoy your beautiful blog.

  7. She really is an American Beauty, Jacqueline. And that lace is such a wonderful find! Do you have SAVERS near you? (It's a thrift shop that supports Big Sisters.) I always seem to find porcelain tea cups/saucers there, and quite cheaply. I think people bring in entire households when people pass away. When an elderly friend of our family died, her family took all of her odd tea cups and saucers and put them out on the dining room table and invited everyone who visited the house to take one home in her memory. I thought that was such a nice thing to do.

  8. Hi Jacqueline, that's a gorgeous cup. I love teacups that have prints inside. Those roses are so sweet. The lacy runner is very pretty too. The white lacy looks lovely against the dark color of the cupboard.

  12. Your American Beauty Rose teacup...my Mother had a place setting for 8 of this pattern. I have a pink Damask tablecloth with all the napkins. Won't those dishes look great on that?

  15. Teacups are never found at thrift stores and second hand shops around here either. I see some in the Antique Malls but they are way over priced. Your new one is lovely, I'm sure she'll fit in splendidly with the others!
    Have a blessed Easter!
