Somewhat suddenly, and a year and a half after closing up shop, we have dusted off the signs and taken a little shop space once again. And I do mean little. During the break we visited all the children and grandchildren all over the country, twice! After years of shop keeping, being at leisure felt so long overdue. We have kept an "undressed" booth space in a large antiques mall all during that time, but now it's time for the fun again.
We are fortunate to be part of a primo vintage shop perfectly suited for us. A five by ten space is not much bigger than a window display, but is plenty of room for putting together some entertaining seasonal vignettes. Pure bliss for a compulsive arranger!
We barely have our foot in the door so what you see here is bare bones. But I feel the old excitement again like when I started out nine years ago.
It's been fun to pull out some of the old store fixtures that were stored away like this beautiful vintage iron clothes rack. The decorative lattice overhead was a perfect fit too! The space was otherwise beautifully designed and ready to go.
A vintage Hartmann suitcase cradles a few shop lovelies inside.
I wanted to show you the space opening right off of mine so that you could see how compatible the styles are.
These next two shots show basically the whole space. Pretty doable. Let the fun begin!
I also learned today that Kerryanne of Shabby Art Boutique gave a nice plug to Cabin & Cottage in her beautiful new online magazine Simply Shabbilicious. Thanks so much Kerryanne! Be sure to check it out! Many of our fav shabby blogs are in this gorgeous issue. You won't want to miss it!
Thanks so much for tuning in!
Jacqueline
Jacqueline, The Captain has gone to bed and I just tuned in and your post was the first to come up. I don't think I've ever been first to comment to you, you always have so many loyal followers ahead of me. Anyway, congratulations on your 'new' shop. It looks to be just about the manageable size. You already have so many pretties installed. We used to have a shop in an antique coop many years ago and I do miss it. Lots of work but fun too. I will live vicariously through you as I do with most of your posts and you'd better get to ironing!!..Happy Monday..Judy

Jacqueline, congratulations on your re-entry into a shop space. I know it will be a huge success with all your beautiful treasures. If I get to Santa Fe this summer a trip to Albuquerque will definitely be on my list. And the magazine plug is well deserved. I'm not familiar with Simply Shabbilicious. Will look for a copy.

Ohhh my gosh! I love your space! Your signs are to die for, and i'm pretty sure i would kill for that lamp with the pink shade. It might be a small space, but it is amazing. You maxed it out with pure charm. The lattice entry is beyond wonderful too... like crazy wonderful!

I am certain your little space will be one noone can pass by.
ReplyDeleteI never knew much about your other shop except for the picture at the end of your Blog which gave me a hint there was one.But the picture was lovely in itself.
It alone made me wish I were there.
If I am ever lucky enough to be in that area I would love to stop by your new space.
What made my heart beat hard and fast was seeing the iron clothes rack.
ReplyDeleteThat won't last long, I can see that in my studio with old prom dresses on it LOL
Or maybe full of mink coats
or maybe lots of lace curtains hanging from it on white hangers
my goodness, everything is displayed so beautifuly.
ReplyDeleteMy best friends son and wife will be moving to Albuquerque in a couple of months.
Jacqueline, how nice to have a space. I really need to get one, too. I have so much stuff to sell and you know I love to arrange stuff like you, too.

ReplyDeleteYou can tell by your post how excited you are about your shop space. It will be fun to see what you display there and of course at your lovely home.
ReplyDeleteI can only keep up with your posts from work as my home computer still gives me the "at risk" notice. I'll try to check in more often from here, even though I should be working :)
Cindy
