This fifties print kitchen towel reminds me of the fabulous red and pink vintage kitchen that Meg Ryan had in Sleepless in Seattle. Nora Ephron, the director, always seems to have the most cozy wonderful interiors for her movies, and that kitchen is my most memorable.
Another famous pink kitchen is the Country Living shoot of Magnolia Pearl's pink fridge with all the rust, chippy wood, and old lace. You have seen it everywhere. I don't like to use the word never, but I don't think there will be a pink kitchen in my future any time soon. But I can just see one in my mind where I might have to dry a few dishes with this towel! The print would look even better all faded with long use.
I just did a grocery run and found some cheery pastel dishes for the outdoor season soon to come. Kiddie size of course. Have you seen the candy corn in pastel colors? I had to get these cheery chocolate eggs too. But I swear that's it for me for the holiday. . . .
What are you indulging in this weekend?
(...and what time is it really??)
Hope it's fun!
Jacqueline

Those colours together are just scrumptuous! All of that is perfectly matched and made for each other!
ReplyDeleteI think the candy is awesome...........I bought a bag of Cadbury eggs the other day, the little ones with chocolate inside and a candy crunch on the outside...and havent' opened it yet. I know when I do the bag is as good as gone. I have no shame.
Enjoy your chocolate and your weekend! Love this post!
Love the colors in these shots. Have not seen those candy corn in pastels.
ReplyDeleteI love that towel. I collect vintage kitchen linens...including things like this.
ReplyDeleteLovely colours - so spring-like.

Jacqueline: Pretty little towel. Such soft colors. Very Eastery. Right now it is 10:46 in California but will turn clock forward before bedtime. We thought it was last weekend and my husband was out walking the dog, at what he thought was 5:30 AM, wondering where everyone was!! Old age! HaHa..Judy
ReplyDeleteBeautiful!

What a pretty post, now I am thinking spring and Easter. I must confess that I have not watched Sleepless in Seattle, I know, must be the only person who hasn't, but may have to looking into changing that very soon! Diane
ReplyDeleteBeautiful colors!
ReplyDeleteI love your pretty post. The colors are so soft and sweet. You gave me an idea for a future quilt. I have some vintagey border fabric in the same colors as your tea towel and so I think I will applique some vintage basket blocks. Thank you for the inspiration. I also want some of that candy corn...lol.

Ha ha! That line, "What time is it REALLY?"is a standing joke in our house.
ReplyDeleteI don't have any pink in our house, except at Easter when I buy those pastel corn candies and eggs. They look especailly pretty with your vintage towel and cute little dishes.

ReplyDeleteI love these pretty pastels and the vintage tea towel is just perfect. I'm avoiding the foil wrapped eggs I see in all the stores right now. I don't know how long I can hold off though. :)
ReplyDeleteThat was some springy eye candy.
ReplyDeleteLove all the pastels.
It is nice to see as I am surrounded at my country place surrounded by MUD. lots and lots of MUD.

ReplyDeleteWonderful tea towel. I have some of the fifties tablecloths in a similar style, and I love them.
ReplyDeletewhat gorgeous colors. where did that towel come from? just so pretty
ReplyDeleteWhat is it about those old tablecloth's that are so good?? They just evoke the best most homey feeling. That is an especially pretty one too. You mixed and matched the most delightful colors with all the dishware and candy corn. You're such an artist with it all.

The first time I saw Sleepless I fell in love with Meg Ryans kitchen too. I love the vintage red/pink color combonation. Your tea towel fits right in. A perfect inspiration piece. Very retro. I love it! : )

Loving the pastel colors! The candies add the special touch!
ReplyDeleteLove the colors....fun post!
ReplyDeleteWhat pretty colors, Jacqueline. Perfect for spring and the Easter season. That towel is just the best. If you had more it would make a darling spring curtain or valance in a small room.

Jacqueline, Well I'm a bit late to the party, but I couldn't resist responding---Love the tablecloth!! Wonderful colors. And what grocery store did you find those adorable, colorful little dishes? And those pastel candy corns--I've not seen those anywhere. So charming! Sleepless in Seattle was great, but I loved Meg's whole house in You've Got Mail--and her book shop!! So charming and cottagey. But I would take the kitchen in Something's Gotta Give anyday, too!
ReplyDeleteLove these colours; so pretty and a feast for the eyes!
