Maybe you won't want to buy The World of Downton Abbey unless you are really into the series. But the volume as artifact lives up to the rarefied Downton air. Here is a sample of a few luscious pages mixed in with props. (I couldn't help but want to get into some of the action myself!)
The book is shown here with the dust cover off in a gorgeous powder blue.
I love the script overwritten on some of the photos throughout.
The satiny end papers in gold showing the Downton crest invented for the show.
I hope you'll excuse me. . . . I have to go round up the kitchen maid now to polish some silver. (Or is that the butler's job?) I can't really hear you anyway. The shooting party has started up! But I hope your week is truly grand!
Jacqueline

Who would have thought to look past the cover to the actual book. Love the blue and your photos of the pieces that go right along with Downton Abby! You are a gift!

I didn't realize there was a book. Is it the novel version of the movie or just lots of pretty pictures from the show? Either way it looks just lovely and you have managed to make it even prettier with your lovely pictures and additions. I'm sure you have single handedly boosted book sales.
ReplyDeleteWhen are you going to publish your book? Remember I said I'd be your first customer :)

I LOVED your glorious book tour. You transported me to another world through your beautiful photos. For a few minutes I was in a totally different realm and it was magical. Perhaps thatis what our blogs are really for. To take us to far away places for a new perspective and to be replenished and refilled. Thankyou.

i am a downtonite if there ever was one and bought the book about a month ago at b&n, the last one they had on the table. having grown up in england and met a few lords and lady's myself, i have remained an anglophile to the max.
ReplyDeletealthough my art is latin inspired (colorful and bright), my home is entirely british down to the irish linen towels of double-decker buses, story books from my infancy such as "the wind in the willows" and an english garden with yarrow mixed in with the roses.
downtonite unite! as i cheerfully sing..."there'll always be an england".
I love Downton Abbey and your post has caught the flavor to a "t!" I must have the book now!!! Thanks for a beautiful post!
ReplyDeleteLovely post I am so looking forward to one day having the pleasure of watching this series.
ReplyDeleteYes who's job is it anyways to polish the silver? Good thing we don't polish around here since I'm the only servant we have. Or maybe hubby is the servant. He serves me up my tea in bed now and then. REALLY!
ReplyDeleteI'm already dreading the end of the 3rd season. Isn't that nuts?
Love revisiting the story here on your beautiful blog.
hugs
Carole
