Cool With Blue

I don't like to admit that I'm feeling a little cranky. I think the heat has something to do with it. Over the weekend I read something that Meghan, Mary Jane Butters' daughter, said about her farmer mother never complaining about the weather. The feeling is that saying it's too hot, for instance, is just being negative. . . . Guilty.

I'm actually headed for cooler weather where I can do more complaining about how it will probably be TOO COOL for summer. In the meantime I want to see something easy on the eyes. Something to make me feel cooler and forget that it's almost one hundred degrees outside.

A collection of blue, and thinking of a trip to France (don't I wish) is working for me. Maybe it will work for you too, hot or not. . . .

What a picture of blissful domesticity. . . .

Ahhhhhh! That feels better.
Hope you're keeping your cool better than I am!
Have a great week!

Jacqueline

  1. I am with you on heat making one cranky. Cold does the same. I must be just right. Just like Goldilocks. The cool blues are soothing like sleeping in a soft blue room or by the blue ocean...as if.

  2. The blues and whites are so lovely. They do look cool and refreshing, don't they? It was nice here in Illinois today, but the heat is coming back. 102 predicted in a few days.

  8. Oh, you don't know what complaining is until you've lived up north. Why it's a way of life. Every conversation starts with complaints about the weather and ends with "Good sleeping weather!"

Your blue is definitely "cool"! I'd like to peruse the pages of that book right now.

  9. Like the saying goes, if you don't like the heat "get out of the kitchen"! OH MY, if it was ONLY THAT SIMPLE! Well, here in New England we had a BLAST of 104 a few days ago and as I LOOK at the temp RIGHT NOW just before midnight it's 56(AHHH, LOVE IT). I too love those blues for summer. Yours are gorgeous, hydrangeas are one of my favorites although OUTSIDE they don't like the heat either. They wilt a bit during the afternoon EXTREME heats. I LOVE your transferware AND I'd love to thumb through that fun Flea markets in France book!
Thank you for taking us away for a dream.
Have a fun week AND Keep Cool!
    Hugs,
    Donna

  17. I love that blue hydrangea bloom! It is a gorgeous shade and works well with your blue and white theme. It's only about 62 here and raining hard all day. A great place to cool down. lol We have 2 more days of rain to come before we get some sunshine and heat. I can't wait!! Pamela

Oh, my. . .dear friend...but it's 102 degrees out here on the Prairie! Your "cool" blues made me feel so~o~o much better! I try NOT to complain, as I do enjoy having four season. But sure seems our weather has gone hay wire this year, for sure! Lovely, refreshing post!

I missed your camping post till today. I'm not a camper altho I have camped. I am a 'Lodge' person.
When we went to beautiful Yosemite
I stayed in the Lodge instead of the tent. One of my very favorite vacations.

  21. Does your camera have like 8 million pixels...??!! good grief, those photos are crazy perfect. I can see the veins in each petal, in fact i think i can see the quarks...
and yeah, it's going to be around 100 degrees here in NC this weekend, and i find as i get older the heat just makes me feel trapped and claustrophobic, and pretty sure i'm gonna die of a heat stroke... but that's just me, catastrophic thinker that i am... so don't worry about being negative... i can out negative you any day! smile...

  25. Arrived home last night to 106. ;-( So, I'm trying to stay cool here inside in my sunroom. It's my plants that aren't doing so well, but not much I can do for them but keep them hydrated.
    Enjoy your mountain time.

  26. Isn't it interesting that blue is always considered a cool colour!

  27. You are not alone Jacqueline - the heat makes me cranky too! This past week our a/c broke and it was 95 degrees! To say I was cranky would be an understatement! Luckily we got it up and running, but I know how you feel. A trip to France would certainally do the trick (in my dreams, of course!). Until then these cool, blue tones are wonderful and calming. Blue and white is my most favorite color palate. I feel cooler already : ) I love the dishes and hydrangeas! And that book looks wonderful too...

    Stay cool!

  30. When it's that hot, I pour a tall glass of iced tea, sit in a dark corner with all the curtains and interior shutters closed against the heat and sun and try not to move!! But that color blue certainlly helps.. like a cool breeze.
