Is June the happiest month on the calendar? Is it the country-est? The most cottagey? Did your heart leap just because it's the first of June? It might only be the school girl in me, but I got as happy as gladiolas at its arrival!
My recent bouquet has lasted and lasted. And I can't resist the urge to take its picture again at the end. Fragile and fading flowers hold such poetry for me, even if they're a little melancholy amidst the summer celebration.
The "sword plant".
Delicate delphinium.
(Ooops these are not delphinium as I have posted all week--They're larkspurs!--But maybe you knew that!)
The last of the stocks.
Glad, glad, glads!
I listen to the forties station on satellite radio,
so I really did hear "June Is Bustin' Out All Over" today!
A happy day in June to you, my friends!
Jacqueline

The delicate pink of the blooms looks so lovely against your white!
ReplyDeleteI love the month of June... just not the humidity that comes with it!
I also LOVE your French Script Tablescape.
A happy first of June to you too, Jacqueline! Your delicate pink blooms simply whisper of summertime and against all your whites, make a lovely statement. Love your photos! Have a wonderful weekend.
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Sandi
Does June really evoke that type of emotion in people? I never thought of it really.
ReplyDeleteJune 1 of all days doesn't evoke happiness for me...
I should give it thought as to the calendar and happiness.
Your gladiolas are beautiful. Happy June to you! Enjoy, my friend!
Pat
so pretty, you know, I didn't know what "stock" was until this Spring, wow, where have I been? Enjoy your first weekend of June!! xoxo
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos.......and thrilled that June is here.....

Hi J,
ReplyDeleteHappy, Happy June to you!
Lovely lovely pink goodness!! Those are the pinkest Delphinium ever, sigh.... Yummy!

Love the shot of the fading petals. I was attempting to take pics of fading gardenias but they did not work out but the scent was divine. My mom loved glads and I recall her staking them up as they always fell over-thanks for that memory and for your comment on thoughtful blogging.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous pink goodness!
ReplyDeleteFunny, I used to call my Mom Gladiola - her name was Gladys. I called her Gladiola for years, she never stopped me.
You know I need to plant them in my garden. I need to learn more about them first.
Your metal full of petal <haha
is awesome.
Love your calender page.
And I haven't heard June is Bustin' is years. I need to find that on youtube just to remember it.
Have a wonderful weekend, Jacqueline!
Hi Jacqueline,

Jacqueline: Such a pretty post. Pink is my favorite color, the more faded the better, just like your flowers. Pretty photos too..Have a lovely, lovely weekend and enjoy June always..Judy
ReplyDeleteBeautiful pink flowers and I love the creative ways you've displayed them.

Oh, my! These delicate pink blooms are exquisite. I agree, they are poetic. I'd savor them a bit longer.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful quote!
Everything looks lovely!
ReplyDeleteHappy June 1st!

Your flowers look so pretty in the galvanized bucket! I've got 2 or them stored in my garage from our daughter's wedding and I need to get them into service! June is a wonderful month. My birthday month. :@
ReplyDeleteDo you know I thought I was the only one who liked fading flowers. When I was in a wheelchair the friends who came in to lend a hand occasionally would often throw out my flowers without asking and it really used to upset me....so I'm glad to have found a kindred spirit ! Lovely pictures of lovely flowers beautifully portrayed. Thank you! Joan
ReplyDeleteI love your photos.
ReplyDeleteJune for me is panic time - I'm in charge of 8th grade promotion - but most of all it is countdown- just 12 days until I have 2 months to do all the projects I see on pinterest and my favorite blogs.
Enjoy your June!
Pretty pink petals...sweet treatments.
ReplyDeleteHappy Summer start to you. The pinks are so beautiful. The 1st June heralds in the start of Winter here. Warm toasty fires and comfort food. :)

ReplyDeleteOh yes indeed! I am happy that June is here too. We are having such perfect weather here in Troy. Even the rain is perfect to me. Blooming flowers are a joy to wake up to.
ReplyDeleteIt's turned out to be a rather chilly start to June, but it's still nice to see a new month on the calendar. Your photos are lovely, the flowers so delicate-looking and charming.

ReplyDeleteWhat beautiful photos. You must have a very nice camera. Do you share what model you use? I am thinking about investing but am not sure which to get. Fresh flowers are such a nice treat to have and yours are certainly lovely.

ReplyDeleteJune is extra special to me...my anniversary is on the 22nd and my son was born on the 29th!
I know several people who don't like gladiolas, but my Nana used to grow them and loved them. They always make me think of her. Yours are lovely.

What a lovely summery post. I listen to 40s radio stations too, we actually have a UK one now, before I always had to look for US stations.
