Garden Books and Botanicals

It's late afternoon on Friday, and we're settling in for easy company this weekend. I'm feeling all gardeny and botanical. Like perusing pretty books and a few magazines.

The blooming action always starts late around here due to our low moisture. Good thing I have a few flowering prints to pore over at my leisure.

On a whim I picked up a new book on gardening. I can't tell you a thing about it yet. I have to explore it a bit first.

But I'm in that garden room mode where you want the chintz covered cushions, the potted palms, and the conservatory table loaded down with gorgeous volumes, whether you're actually going to get all that or not.

It doesn't matter anyway. Because all we really need is the dream time. A good dinner out, and fine company, and a long weekend ahead to take it all in. . . .

Have a great weekend!

Jacqueline

P.S. Word verification has gotten C R A Z Y !!! It's very, very hard to read now, and to figure out, when all we want to do is leave a nice comment. Please go into your comment settings menu and turn it off so everyone can comment back to you! Thanks SO MUCH!

Pretty photos as always. I am a sucker for botanicals. I just got my new issue of Victoria yesterday and I was not thrilled with it. I have stacks of old ones I read over and over but it seems like the new issues don't have the same classy timeless look the old ones do (and like your photos do). Maybe it's just me. Have a nice weekend.

Blooming season is late here too...due to, well COLD, SNOW up until end of May it seems (still get a few flurries believe it or not)
We have a green house that we enjoy putting things in. We bought a little bistro set so we could go sit out there, and play cards, listen to music, and look at our plants. As I have NONE in the yard.
I love old books. They hold so much personality and charm I think..

AND...that word verification has me about PULLING MY HAIR OUT. I can't even make out the letters, and sometimes I have to try 3 times, before it accepts it.
That is crap.

Such a dreamy magical post......you spin such visuals - of those conservatories and gardens in only my deepest dreams....and WHAM! You are SO RIGHT about those viscious word verification. There must have been 4 or 5 last night I just gave up on after a 3rd attempt.

No thank you, and I had nice comments, too, such a shame.

OK...........back to that dreamy place..........have a great weekend.

Hugs.

Everyone is talking about the awful word verification thing. I can't work out how to get into the old blogger to turn it off.

You always post lovely photos but these are extradinary ~ beautiful.

I have read the book Founding Gardners and it is great; you will really enjoy it.

Yes! the word verification thing is horrible...it has become a battle to leave a comment on blogs that still use it.

Oh what a beautiful share today. I love seeing you vignettes. How beautiful. I love the share of the books along with the magnifying glass. Just perfect for that closer look. Could anyone resist not picking it up?

Love birds, they are so romantic. Your photos are exquisite. Thank you for sharing with me.

P. S. I just tried to leave a comment on a fellow bloggers post. Couldn't read the word, so I hit the volume button...can't hear either...I'm doomed. Deaf and blind...but still able to keyboard! Ha!

It is so ugly here lately that a beautiful garden magazine or book would certainly be a pick me up! The brown grass with no snow just doesn't do it!

I hope you are keeping well, still reading your posts in my reader but apologies for not calling by to comment very often, time just seems to get swallowed up by real life!

Your photos are lovely and your post so inspirational. Even though it has been a fairly mild winter I think we all have spring on our minds. Yes, books and magazines help until we can actually participate in the spring season.
Thank you for mentioning about word verification because it drives me crazy too. It is truly frustrating.
Have a wonderful week.

The books look so great. I'm always looking through my gardening books, magazines, and on-line catalogs. I want to start planting and growing things again.

We already have a few daffodils blooming.:) Beautiful blog.

I've found that word verification to be extremely annoying lately-just because it is so hard to read. I understand the need for it but I just can't see it the words.

What lovely books you have, I specially love the birds.
I do not garden but do enjoy the beauty, and all the hard work of others (two of my dear friends are gardeners).
Thanks for sharing.
