Vintage Veil & Bouquet

I've never seen an old beaded bouquet like this one. The aged florist picks have a romantic ivory patina, and the ribbons have started to shred. It has been put aside with a matching veil for what appears to be a long time.

These sentimental objects have an unknown history, so I decided to frame up a picture story to go along with them.

A bit more lace, some scraps and tags, and a pretty camisole is enough to capture imagination and envision one happy day long ago. . . .

It seems I often find romance at the flea market.
Looking for love in all the right places.
How about you?

  4. Hi Jacqueline! You found a treasure. Even if you put it away for awhile, when you bring it back out, it would be a treat for the eyes, and to think what it has been through and where it has been. Is someone missing it now and why has it been left in your care? Such a mystery to unravel. Just beautiful and so is that frame..Happy Tuesday..Judy

  10. Would you believe me if I told you it's Cat Daddy who brings in vintage gowns? I don't know if he's fascinated by them...or the thought of a new bride! LOL
They are beautiful. Pieces of art really.

  12. Jacqueline,
I read this post thinking, "this is the best White Wednesday post I have ever seen!", hoping it was indeed also to be for WW. And it was!
Also, the 4th picture has got to be the MOST romantic photo I have ever seen. Seriously.
    Love the post.

  30. Hmmm... what is it about Green lately, that makes everything feel cooler.
Last year we had the most horrid drought-filled summer. Brown, brown and more brown... I think I may have sweat brown. Everything burned up and it just seemed so hot.
Kind of like a scene straight out of a 'spaghetti western'...nothing by hot sun over head and dirt underfoot.

This summer--- so lovely, green everywhere. In fact this afternoon, we had a sun-shower... Sun high in the sky and rain coming down in the back pasture. Not so much out front... really weird.

Love the green china on your table...so wonderful. Cool, even.

  31. It's so lovely to find things and wonder about them and the people that owned them. Was she a happy bride? Did their love endure? Were they separated by one of the wars? Did he come home to her? So many things to imagine! And so beautifully arranged on your wall. You are indeed a "caretaker of the past".
