Natural Wicker and White

Natural wicker adds so much texture to a space. I'm enjoying using my small collection of vintage wicker wrapped bottles with flowers. This time it's baby's breath and white hydrangeas. You can use wicker year round, of course, but summer is perfect for it. Since we are using the dining room less recently, the space is working more like an entry hall. That's something that I love in grand houses, especially old ones. and that will surely never appear in this one. So I guess I'll have a little fantasy about one for awhile.

I brought out an old vintage dress for interest too. It really softens up a space. The gown hangs from a portable vintage wooden screen that is so handy for taking nice photos in an awkward space, or wherever you want to really change the look of a room. All the whites catching different tones of light are so nice every time I pass through.

I've been trying to lighten up my small rooms for summer, and the recent changes I've made in this one are starting to make that happen. For now, this light filled area in the center of the house will get me through. . . .

After my last post which was so full of color I guess I was really looking forward to
I'm also joining

 See you all there!

Jacqueline

  5. Lovely, I have never seen white hydrandeas before, they are so pretty. Those bottles are so good with the white. The white gown is lovely. There is something so beautiful about vintage cotton clothing,I love making Christening gowns from vintage cotton. I have just been given a bundle of vintage linen and lace. I will be posting about it next week. My heart is still pattering since I received it.

  9. Jacqueline, it's so pretty and the white does make everything lighter and airy. I'm beginning to see signs of that as my kitchen progresses and I'm loving it after all the other darker colors. I now plan to add more white touches to the other spaces. In the mean time, I'll just enjoy yours if you don't mind..Happy Wednesday..Judy

  24. Very pretty! Love the little dress and the pretty white frame. When I clear out all the yard sale piles I have created in our dining room, I'm going to enjoy having the neutral scheme again. I think I may need to add some white painted empty frames.

  36. I just love this area. It just says "Summer". Reminds one of a lazy summer day at the lake. The vintage dress is the perfect touch. I like to visualize things and that dress is a little girl playing in a meadow.
Love you blog. I am over from French Country Cottage and I am now following.
    Have a great weekend. Ginger
