Local Color

We have been lucky enough to have three sunny days in a row on our Washington visit! Everyone talks about the weather and having to adjust to the bright light. The sound of mowing and blowing seems to come from everywhere. In our hometown we water and water and still may not save the plants, trees, and grass. Here, even the fields are constantly mowed down to keep nature from reclaiming it all.  There's a delightful profusion of local color.

We came across this cool recycled glass sculpture outside the water reclamation facility.

So nice for you to come along! Hope you're enjoying a beautiful Pink Saturday!

Vintage Red White & Blues

I'm far from alone in loving the look of old cars. And I love all those ads that use an old truck or auto grill to catch your eye for something else they're selling. I'd love to have my own '42 Chevy in oxidized green (or any other color) with its fat round fenders sitting in my driveway, or to tool around town. We're still in Blaine, Washington where this beautiful small bay side town is readying for a good old fashioned 4th of July celebration. Here are a few beauties in patriotic colors that we found parked around town.

Guess which one I liked the best! *smile*
Don't you love old fashioned celebrations?
Hope yours is fun!

A Pacific Northwest Meadow

This scene might just be the backyard to you. It is for my son's family living in Washington State at the Canadian border. But to me it may as well be Mars. I know I am just so "gee whiz" over the simplest things, but you must remember that I'm from the provinces of New Mexico!

I've been around. I've seen the world. And I'm still amazed at this beautiful green and alien environment. A stroll around the "yard" while the steaks are on the barbie holds a world of fascination.

This rooster. . .

And this one-eyed hen. . .

recently produced exactly one chick. Bravo! But the lady of the house fears that it's another rooster.

This makes me want to order a country meadow from my local nursery when I get back home to the desert.

Picking Rainier cherries.

My son called this flower a Rocket plant. He says in Alaska they say that when the flower blooms all the way to the top winter is over.

Today was a good day for the bees. We had lots of sunshine!

Now this I could live without!

Having a wonderful time! Wish you were here.
