Flea Finds & An Old English Transferware Jug

I've propped a couple of recent finds on my table to show them to you. It sometimes doesn't take much to give me a thrill, like this little pink vintage lampshade.

Where has it been kept for so many years that such a fragile thing can be so perfect and clean? I found it for 4.95, and knew it would be ideal for this little vintage glass lamp I've had for so long.

I'm always on the hunt for antique picture frames. This one came already wearing an ivory patina at exactly seven dollars.

On my way out of the grocery store last time I asked how soon the little white boo pumpkins would be in. I had to wait a really long time for them last season. The grocer told me he had a box of them in back. YAY! Aren't they luscious? I think you're going to be seeing them here a lot!  ;0)

I thought I would show you my very first collected piece of brown transferware too. I found it off the beaten track in a small New Mexico town almost a decade ago. There was almost nothing else interesting to buy in that shop. I paid approximately twenty-five dollars for it then.

It's a smallish jug at about seven inches tall.  The details are exquisite, and I especially like bringing it out in autumn.

This piece is different on each side. I also like the variations in color. The biscuit jar I last showed you here had discolored with age, but this china wears it original color.

The reverse.

Other pieces may come and go, but I think this one will be with me a long time. . . .

I hope good things are happening for you this week!

  16. Do you know how rare it is to find a shade - and a good shade at that - that fits a lamp you already have? I'm betting you do. I know you were doing the happy dance with that. I covet your jug. No, I shall not covet. I very much admire the jug. :-) And the frame.

  26. Oh, that brown transferware is just luscious, Jacqueline. (The 'reverse' side image reminds me so much of Edith Holden's autumn drawings...) I love that pink shade -- it's perfect on that lovely crystal base. And how cute are those BOO punt-kins??? As my grandmother would have said, "I gotta get me some of them!"
