I like the classic look of an all white bed in any season.
Nothing can outshine the beauty of fresh white vintage linens.
I first showed the master bedroom dressed in white for winter.
But the whole mood and look of a bedroom can be altered with just a change of a bed cover.
And a few perky details.
Here was the master bedroom of spring.
I was going for a more elegant tone when I used this embroidered cover in neutrals.
A simple woven lampshade at the bedside table worked well for that mood.
But what I really like is the vintage glass base. I think I am somewhat "lampshade challenged" because I have the hardest time finding a shade that I like that actually fits. It's an ongoing quest since I almost never buy a new lamp with a shade. I always prefer vintage, and the shade you get, if at all, is a crap shoot. Or just plain cr*p!
My summer solution is a very simple one. I draped a plain shade with a large crocheted doily. Easy to change for yet a different look when the mood strikes me, as it always does. And fancier than the plain white shade which wasn't quite holding it's own.
A vintage tissue holder brings in a bit more "frou" for a time too.
Dotted Swiss chiffon and lace.
Some older season mix and matched cottage prints by RL keep things casual for now.
Rachel and Ralph blend well for a cheery mix, don't you think?.
As the season changes, I'll want more of a change too.
Good thing it's so easy to do!
Does your bedroom change much with the season?
I can feel one coming on again already!
Back to school week for a lot of us.
I hope it's a good one for you!

Hi Jacqueline,
ReplyDeleteI love your collection of vintage and new linens and how you change them out so frequently. I've been working on neutralizing the linens on a guest bed, and I just haven't found the satisfying combination yet. Love the doily on your lampshade! I have lots of doilies that my mother-in-law gave me.
In such bedclothes it may be only a beautiful dream :)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful updates! I love the addition of the floral pillows. So pretty.
ReplyDeleteJacqueline: Each season gets more beautiful. What will you do for autumn?..Happy Monday..Judy
ReplyDeleteThis is such an inspiration to me. I just changed my master bed so I can change from season to season. I
ReplyDeletemade it all white. I will be posting it in a couple of weeks. You have such a beautiful effect on my brain. Lovely post.

Jacqueline,
ReplyDeleteI adore the changes with the Seasons in your Master Bedroom, dear friend! Each one comfortable and inviting; however the embrodiered cover stole my heart. Hm~m~m, I feel a nap coming on!
Fondly,
Pat
I could totally "cozy up" to any of those lovely bedroom looks. Each one had it's own personality and charm.
ReplyDeleteI was in love with your bedroom end table. Everything on it was so cool looking.
Great idea with the doily over the lamp shade. I'll have to keep that in mind.
I don't change mine up....ever. But you gave me something to think about.
Seems like ....living here in the country, and a cowboy, there are a whole different set of "rules" that I had while living in the city.
Each one just as pretty as the one before!!

Hi Jacqueline,
ReplyDeleteSo very pretty! every seasons is lovely and romantic.
I do change my bed from season to season, some changes are small like you say others bigger. We are still working on the Master Bedroom, its a work in process, almost done though.
Your room is sweet and full of charm.

My bedroom does not really change too much with the seasons but after seeing this post I think it should!!! It would be really hard to pick a favorite season from what you have displayed, they are all beautiful. Thanks for sharing, Laura
ReplyDeleteI love all white bedding too, but I also love my vintage/floral/tea stained quilts. Your bedding is beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI wish here in Houston it got cold enough for duvets. I love the big fluffy cloud look! haha

Love your bed linens Jacqueline ~ Just beautiful. I agree with you, an all white bed covered in vintage linens. Can't get anything better. I change my bedroom linens are the time. I have just recently added a pastel pink chenille bedspread at the bottom of the bed ~ dressed all in white vintage of course ~ Have a great day ~!
ReplyDeleteJacqueline, Your linens are so fresh and beautiful. All your whites in your bedroom are so pretty and dreamy!
ReplyDeleteMary Alice
Love the vintage bedding. Rachel and Ralph do play well together. I think lamp shades are an issue for new and vintage lamps. I change our bedding as I thrift and find vintage sheets, chenille spreads and even Rachel for a song. Sometimes I drift into silly and put Tommy H. pink flimingo's on the bed with vintage pillow cases. xoxo, olive
ReplyDeleteJacqueline, you can create so many different beautiful looks for your bedroom. Ours stays the same from season to season ~ all white linens with the occasional quilt. I need to follow your lead and try some different looks. ~ Sarah
ReplyDeleteYour bedroom looks so beautiful! I love all your gorgeous white linens.
ReplyDeleteKathy
just charming--all of it! how sweet are those rl florals!?
ReplyDeleteI love to change up my bed for the seasons..I have 3 wonderful cotton spreads, that I alternate...plus, when it turns chilly, I always add an afghan to the bottom of the bed...I don't care for heavy duvets or comforters..your vignetttes are to-die-for...
ReplyDeleteIf you check out my latest thrity thursdays, I believe I picked up the same crocheted pillowcases...I love them...
I also like to use a "double" spread on our queen size, paired with a bedskirt...no one is the wiser!!
Enjoy your evening...
Cheers!
Linda :o)

I agree that there is nothing prettier than crisp white vintage linens. I love your idea for the doily over the lampshade. A very quick and pretty fix.
ReplyDeleteLaura
So pretty, Jacqueline! I made my bed a bit 'lighter' for the summer ... snow white pillowslips, white coverlet. Very cooling on hot nights. And in the winter I use more florals... and is to keep the sense of the garden alive during those long snowy months!
