City Sidewalks

These busy sidewalks dressed in holiday style are in downtown Salt Lake City, Utah.

I had heard of the Christmas light show in the city center, but had envisioned a few lit trees. I was certainly in for a surprise.

We first spent an hour or two peeking into shops and grabbing a bite in this comfort food mecca before shivering off the calories in the below freezing temperatures.

Seeing the lights is a bit of a winter sport here, and families come out in droves. There's a big city energy in the night streets of this pretty urban center, but the vibe is all friendly town. We grabbed a horse drawn carriage for a spin around the square. Between the hot chocolate available on the street corner, and the blankets provided to take off the chill, we were almost cozy!

There was a spectacular shot no matter which direction I pointed, so I soon put my camera away. After a brief time without gloves I couldn't feel my camera anymore anyway!

I hope you're hearing silver bells!
Ciao! for  now!

  1. Thanks for sharing these. SLC is one of the prettiest cities at Christmastime. Literally millions of lights everywhere! We've been there many times to see the lights but I can sympathize with your freezing hands. The last time we were there during the Christmas season it was only 19º and we took one very blurry photo before stashing the camera! This CA girl is not used to those temps!
