Northern Exposure

Well, we're not quite to the North Pole, but it's a little more exotic in Blaine, Washington than what we've had back home lately.

You know those bumper stickers that read "I brake for. . ."? Mine says "antiques" at the end of that phrase. And the main street of this small very northern town has a bona fide antiques establishment. So of course we had to stop.

A vintage Santa was featured prominently inside Horseshoe Coins and Antiques.

My son's family lives in this tiny town at the Canadian border. A quiet, sweet, and very small bayside town. We woke to a dark morning this far north in the winter. The hush of a train swept by early, and then came the cry of gulls.

The jaunt for morning coffee reveals a bit of a "Bedford Falls" feeling to the place.

The whole town decked out for the holidays.

And we have sunshine!

Breakfast by the water at the Little Red Caboose, and we're ready for a tour!

That's White Rock in Canada across the quay.

We can spy Mount Baker in the distance today! And you know what they say around here. . . . If you can see Mount Baker it's gonna rain. If you CAN'T see Mount Baker, it's raining!
Hope you're having great times too!

Ciao! for now!
