Vintage Valentines

Ah, the season of love! Now, I know that traditional Valentines are red, but my taste runs more to pink, so I was happy to come across these lovely vintage cards in my rambles yesterday. To top it all off, I came home from my jaunts to find a lovely French flower bucket full of pink roses in the house! I think we're getting a little jump ahead of the big day.

I'd say that these examples are very old, if not quite antique, and I love the embossed flowers and flourishes of the time.

Just a nod to the occasion is all that usually makes its appearance around here. Oh yes! And probably some pretty sweets too. . . .

A butterfly and hollyhocks for this little Victorian fellow. . . .

And old-fashioned sentiments.

So glad you came by!
I hope there's a cheery weekend ahead for you!

Jacqueline

  1. The Old-fashion sentiments are the best, aren't they?

Oh how I would love that JDL Poster. Did I miss a post where you shared yours? I would love to see where you hung it. And how do you like the quality? Is it worth the price?

  24. Jacqueline, these are some of the prettiest vintage valentines I've seen. I have a small collection of the mechanical cards, but they are not as romantic as these two. Mine are cute, not elegant like yours. ;-)

  25. Olé fashioned romance is the best, and perfectly romantic here.
Your soft pinks make me wish spring would hurry so the gardens would bloom. I always make Valentine cards each year with my daughter she's in her 3rd year of college and still looks forward to what we will come up with.

    Happy old fashion Valentine Day.
