It was one of those weeks that I sort of pushed myself through. Tax time and bill paying. Things piling up on the table. A week of wondering and fretting and sadness. A lot of staring at the walls. . . .
Sometimes there is just so little to be done. Or too much. So I decided to at least change what I was looking at. Not in a big way, but enough to cheer myself up.
This pretty empty frame sits in the middle of everything in my dining room. I haven't changed it up much since I put it here, but I've thought how I would like to hang a platter in the middle of it, and this week I found just the one! White of course.
The botanicals were already here. ( I hung a boxwood wreath from a gauzy ribbon right over them in the middle of the frame during the holidays.) But then I thought of these postcard prints that I gifted at Christmas. I kept some for myself of course, not knowing what I would do with them. There are twenty two different crowned animal characters in a booklet, but I used mostly the birds. Just tucked in.
I also worked on a blackboard project that isn't quite finished that you can see the top of here in the jumble of things.
Don't we need a little "still-life" in life once in awhile?
Front
And FYI, the back
So nice that you stopped by!
Here it is almost the weekend again.
Carry on. . . .

your "still life" makes me say "be still my heart!" sigh..simply. lovely. ;)
ReplyDeleteJacqueline, tax time is always a let down, but those elegant little still lifes are just the ticket to bring you back up. As always, I love the simplicity that you use to show off your treasures..Happy Thursday..Judy
ReplyDeleteYes, Jacqueline, we really DO need a "still life" sometimes. I, too have been super stressed out lately - very much due to same things you mentioned.
ReplyDeleteOne of "those" weeks, just when nothing was going right and still aren't - but hubs took me to dinner and it was awesome and the windows are open and buds and blooms are popping out....which all helps make the stress and depression a little bit.
I love your images on this post.
Hang in there, my friend.
Big hugs.
Yes we do. And that is the most beautiful frame!

It's wonderful that you can be so productive and creative in such down kind of week. "Still life" sure sounds good to me. I am feeling very overwhelmed too. Love your postcards-turn artwork on the wall Just gorgeous!

Think we all get weeks like the one you've been having, we don't all have the imagination to design such attractive still lifes though. The frame is beautiful and perfect for the plate.
ReplyDeleteJust to be still is sometimes so nice we don't do it enough.
ReplyDeleteMerle.....
your frame is lovely, jacqueline! hoping next week is sweeter to you:)
ReplyDeleteYes, a still small quiet in the midst of derangement is always welcome, Jacqueline. As I fret about my daughter and grandchildren in Boston, all I can do is make sure there are lovely things around to distract the too-nervous mind. What wonderful cards! And I'm not surprised they're from New Orleans... the seat of whimsy! I so enjoy peeking at all the arrangments and tableaux you have around your lovely home, they are so beautiful and capture the mind and bring loveliness to a an otherwise mad world. xxx
ReplyDeleteI'm sitting here watching the news about the insanity in our world, and then I clicked onto your blog and got my eyeful of peace and serenity...even if only for three minutes. Lovely photos as usual.
ReplyDeleteHi Jacqueline,
ReplyDeleteLove your random things and the little changes that bring such a pretty touch to our world that seems to be upside down at the moment.
I have a very similar big white frame like yours. I think I need to random it up a bit. Thank you for the inspiration.
Have a nice weekend,
CM
How pretty! I love the postcards too. I would never have thought of this.
ReplyDeleteLooks lovely!

I have always loved your whites! This post gives me peace... And I do believe life is better lived slowly. In a state of stillness, we can see more, discover more, appreciate more... Thank you!
ReplyDeleteJacqueline,
