A little gold and white dresses up a corner of our sitting room. I found a frame around here that hadn't gotten the whitewash treatment yet that gives off a bit of a glint in the firelight.
The bottle brush forest has moved from the table centerpiece to the cabinet with the little glitter church. I also covered the inside of the cabinet doors with a bit of vintage lace curtain that hangs from a spring rod (photo below). Quick and easy. It lightens up the space even more and changes the focus from what's inside to what's on top.
We finally have cold, and real winter weather. I'll make a run for fresh greens. On Wednesday our local theater will have a showing of It's A Wonderful Life on the big screen. We're going to make a night of it.
It's time to play my favorite Christmas music, buy the egg nog, and stoke up the fire. My new annotated Dickens is waiting by the chair. This year's list of things left undone seems longer than usual. It's all okay. The days of pulling all nighters wrapping, etc. before the big day comes are long gone. It's a week before Christmas, time to slow down and savor, reflect, and just be. Every year is different. This year is for finding peace and joy in the season.
And I hope you do too.
Jacqueline

oh my..."Pinning" away!!! LOVE!
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful idea hanging the lace curtain in the inside of the cabinet. Lovely.
ReplyDeleteLove how you covered the glass doors of your cabinet with lace in order to focus on your beautiful display! Sounds like a fun evening out, enjoying It's A Wonderful Life (my husband's favorite movie)!

Looks so pretty and lovely!
ReplyDeleteI wish our theater would play "It's a Wonderful Life" or something like that.
I would definitely go to it!
Enjoy your slow paced week.

Lovely- white and gold is my favorite Christmas......but there's places here and there around the house that has the traditional red and green, in fact I even posted a few of those pieces in today's blog post! LOL!
ReplyDeleteI also reached the stage of being able to slow down a bit and enjoy things. I love your white and gold decorations, it's all very traditional red, green and gold here.
ReplyDeleteHave to say that watching It's A Wonderful Life would be very low indeed on my list of 'things to do':)
I'm afraid that I absolutely loathe that film. Holiday Inn is my favourite Christmas film.
This is simply beautiful, I love it!!

Very pretty! I like the wreath especially. Is it tulle?

A beautiful vignette, Jacqueline, capturing the magic and sparkle of the season. Merry Christmas!
ReplyDeleteelegant Christmas displays, Hugs!!!
ReplyDeleteYour white bottle brush trees have the perfect patina, just love that. The little church is adorable and your vignette is heart warming. My list left undone is longer this year than in years past. But it will all be okay just the way it is. Have a very Merry Christmas with many blessings for this holiday and the year to come! xo marlis
ReplyDeleteI love your bottlebrush tree collection, and the white candles and the lace inside the cabinet--all so pretty for winter. Our weather is rainy, which is typical for here, but only starting to get kind of cold at night. I have hardy salad greens still growing under layers of clear plastic outside in my garden!
ReplyDeleteOh Jacqueline,
ReplyDeleteEverything is just LOVELY!!! I love all of it!!! Wishing you a most gorgeous holiday season...it's finally starting to get cold over here too! :)
Hugs,
Jessie
