Living With Textures

I don't know how it could be possible, but when the season changes, I spend even more time than ever looking over my design books.

One of my favorites is Dwellings--Living With Great Style, by Sills and Huniford. Not new, but you may not have encountered it yet.

Coming across it again, I realize how much it has influenced my style. But no matter what your style may be, Sills and Huniford help you refine it, and embrace what you love in your decor with confidence.

Unlike a lot of books there is practical and thoughtful advice on how to achieve what you want for your living spaces. "Personal quirks give a room its human qualities," begins one chapter.

The following photos are from my home, and draw attention to the textures that are attracting me now that we are spending more time inside.

I'm crazy over this vintage textured paper lamp shade I recently found in white tones.

 Damask Tablecloth.

Thanks for stopping by! Ciao! for now!

I love texture! I always enjoy seeing how you put together your vignettes. The elements of design texture, line, shape, color, etc. You always have all of it to keep my eye happy! Very pretty and interesting to look at again.

All caught up with what I missed now! As always, your photos and attention to detail are breathtaking......and soothing to my soul. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the little brown and white dogs that you have in pictures on your sidebar.

I'll be back to do some "looking" around. I saw several books on a post way back there that I want to look for on Amazon!

Jacqueline, I don't know this book so thank you for the recommendation. I'm going to order myself a copy.
For me, texture is important. I like to use it to enhance the interest of things around the house. It's fun to see all the textures around your home that you captured through your lens. ~ Sarah
