I've been enjoying a few cut blooms from my snowball bush for the last few days. This is its first year after planting, and while the bush grew larger, it produced fewer flowers this spring. I wish I had planted more than one! What was I thinking? They only last a short time anyway.
They were so cheery that I got used to having a small bouquet close by. And when the flowers finally gave up I wanted another one to take its place.
Or maybe I was just influenced by the new Victoria Classics Magazine which has lots of gorgeous white in it.
At any rate, my choice for Mother's Day was another white bouquet. Stocks this time. Lovely and fragrant.
The scent fills the small sitting room and adds a special touch. I may have just started a new routine for cut flowers!
A little live bouquet just adds an extra something to a room. And I know the "sort of" rule that insists you need a pop of color in a white room which is often found in the flowers. But my rooms will soon be filled with plenty of liveliness with all the family home. I'd rather keep the tone quiet.
Thanks so much for all your warm wishes for the big reunion! It's a busy time of year and many of you have big events this month too. My best to you too! I hope you all enjoy a sweet Mother's Day!
Jacqueline
The blooms from the snowball bush are beautiful! I wonder if there are different varieties that bloom at different times, that way you have flowers longer. And I love stock. Very pretty vignettes.
ReplyDeleteHope you are enjoying family time!

ReplyDeletegreat memories here on Mothers Day. My next door neighbor growing up might as well of been my Grandmother, she was one in every way. And she had 2 huge snowball bushes in her front yard. Wish I could sit on her porch with her and my mom right now.....
Love the flowers and doily chair!!

I don't think I have ever seen stocks for real but I hear they smell heavenly. Your photos of them in the enamel pot are beautiful. Happy Mother's Day to you! Pamela

Linda mensagem, feliz dia das mães para você!!
ReplyDeleteJacqueline, the snowballs are so pretty. I will have to plant one but one of the most beautiful flowers is stock in my opinion. The smell is rivaled by none. The white I love. Happy Mother's Day. Enjoy all the time you have with your family..Judy
ReplyDeleteLovely!
ReplyDeleteWhite is so gorgeous...
I love your touch and note to detail.
Nothing more beautiful than an all white room - rich, contentedness. Sometimes pop's of color interferes and even cheapens.

Well girl, you have triggered a fond memory. When I was little there was a snowball bush growing on the side of the house. I loved playing under it. Now I've got to go and try to find one to plant in my own yard!
ReplyDeleteBTW...I love stock. Can't grow it, but love it.
Deb
Your blooms are beautiful. Hope you had a nice Mother's Day too.

ReplyDeleteSteve got me a snowball bush for mother's day!! Yea! Maybe I should get another one?! I have white stock in my circle garden in back but need more and can't find any. Love them! Your photos are sweet and serene!! Good luck with keeping the serenity with your big crew!!
ReplyDeleteHave fun! Kay
Jacqueline,
ReplyDeleteI am motivated to plant my Stock flowers now! Love the white in every picture you show us. The floral sofa is beautiful!
Hugs,
Betsy
Your flowers are so pretty. I just planted 2 hydrangea bushes hoping for some white blooms of my own.
ReplyDeleteYour flowers are gorgeous! The blooms on my snowball didn't last very long, so happy to see you cut some of yours. I cut flowers today to put everywhere in the house, I just have to get in the habit of doing it. I love looking at them in the garden and hate to cut them. Thanks for the inspiration. So many pretty whites!
ReplyDeleteTake Care,
Jody
Stock is one of my favorites. It smells heavenly, and the blooms are so soft and fluffy. What a great old sofa i see in one of the photos too. Sounds like you will soon have a house full !

I'm with you, Jacqueline.... when it comes to white and cream in a room, more is seldom enough! Your stock looks beautiful in that (pewter?) pitcher and I can only imagine how fragrant they were. I haven't had a chance to read ahead yet, but I'm looking forward to seeing your blogs about the lovely occasions you were planning with your family!
