Oh good! Another excuse for pretty! Valentines Day!
I have to tell you that February 14th pretty much comes and goes around here. A few roses are nice, and perhaps a special dinner, but it's celebrated with no where near the intensity of grade school days!
Are there still valentines in school? Or did they go the way of art and physical education?
Perhaps it's best. Let them all be spared the valentine box envy. Both from the handmade beauties that other girls used to concoct out of frothy trim and ribbon that I somehow never got a chance to get a hold of, or the candy boxes that were always fancier than the ones I ever (ever) had. *smile*
I also coveted (and still do) those pretty frosted heart shaped sugar cookies like the ones that Bella of Bella's Rose Cottage makes (here). Or maybe that you make too! (Thank goodness for the fancy bakery!!)
I still love hunting for cute cards to share, and pretty papers, and stamps, and labels and such. Maybe this is where my paper addiction all started!
. . . Yes, kids are much better off with whatever it is they do these days. . . .
These stickers cover the price label that for some reason is on the side rather than the bottom of my candle jars.
I'm gearing up for more pretty!
How about you?
Have a sweet week ahead!
Jacqueline

I do love the valentine pinks and frills. They are so cheery! I think today the kids just buy the commercial cartoon ones--kind of sad. Love your sweet labels! Well, if you're getting flowers and a special dinner out of it, you're doing great!! Have a happy one! Kay
ReplyDeleteThese labels are so cute, your take on Valentines Day is very sweet and soft and I like that. It comes and goes here, also. I might bake a little but that's it! :)
ReplyDeleteXO,
Jane
Oh, you've brought back so many memories of my young school days at Valentine's day. I loved decorating my shoe box and picking just the right little card for the little boy I liked. Love the pretties you're putting together.
ReplyDeleteBe a sweetie,
Shelia ;)
Beautiful labels! So romantic...
ReplyDeleteGearing up for Valentines here too. I'm bringing out a few hearts and special valentine things to add a touch of the holiday around our home. Your labels are charming. ;-)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful stickers...love pink for Valentines Day.
ReplyDeleteWe don't celebrate it here, but I still like to see what you are all doing out there. Those candle holders and stickers and stationary are lovely.

Love your Valentine candles. I remember making Valentine boxes in grade school. I think the Valentines Party was always my favorite. I loved reading all the little cards and would look through them again when I got home. Thanks for bringing back the memories!
ReplyDeleteHow pretty!
ReplyDeleteI'll have to get busy and pull out some of my favourite hearts - and put together a Valentine's package to send to the grands.
Jacqueline, your Valentine's day post is all pink and rosey.
ReplyDeleteGrowing up this day never existed. It was just another ordinary day.
It seems the children today, like to offer their sweethearts a little something.
My son in law, never forgets his sweet heart. My daughter.
lovely post cards and paper.

Your Valentine candles are so pretty. The labels are perfect and I love the shade of pink.
ReplyDeleteI remember making those Valentine boxes in school and hoping for a special boy to place a pretty Valentine card inside! LOL!
hugs

Love your candles! I'm so ready for the pretty of Valentine's Day!

Such a pretty post ... love your photos. I recall one part of Valentine's Day from my youth that no one else has mentioned. We would leave our valentine cards at the front door, ring the doorbell and run to hide and see the face of the person opening the door and finding our special message. Was I the only one who did this? :)
ReplyDeleteSuch pretty labels and images!
ReplyDeleteYes, the kids still celebrate! It is one of the "traditions" that lingers, and I am so glad! They make little containers for card delivery....some children bring in little candy gifts....we will be making knotted friendship bracelets (look on my valentines pinterest board). My daughter has come home with 2 full size valentines and she is only in the 3rd grade! Jealous.
Hi J,
ReplyDeleteOh pretty pretty labels, and perfect on the candles:-) Valentines when I was a kiddo were the cartoon kind, Not that cute really :-( Chocolate boxes were still pretty back then, I remember my dad always gave my mom a pretty one.
Thanks for the SWEET cookie love:-)
Hugs & Thanks for the Monday Morning Pretties:-)
Bella
I've not gotten into decorating for Valentines. Maybe it's because modern stuff seems so chintzy. I like your look, it is has a softness to it. Maybe blog-land or pinterest will inspire me yet :) --Susie
ReplyDeleteSo pretty--I especially like how you decorated your jar candles!
ReplyDeleteJacqueline,
ReplyDeletePretty, indeed!!!
What memories came flooding over me when you mentioned the decorated valentine boxes.
The "popular" girl in Elementary came with a cigar box decorated in pink velvet, ribbons and lace!!! Mine was a cereal box covered in red & white left~over Christmas stripe paper and heart ~ shaped white lacy paper doilies! The things we remember from our childhood. I may not have had the prettiest box...but I definitely had MORE Valentines!!!
Fondly,
Pat
Absolutely beautiful, Jacqueline.
ReplyDeleteHi Jacqueline,
ReplyDeleteNow that all the Christmas decore is gone things seem bare. I can't wait to bring out some sweet reds and pinks and decorate for Valentine's day. I love your candles and lables. The vintage look is so beautiful. Yes, the kids do still celebrate in school. Not with pretty boxes, though. It will probably be something like Mickey Mouse valentines and Hershey kisses. Still cute in it's own way, right?! : )
Ahhh yes, valentines day... What comes to mind is being in elementary school, and all those little cards we passed around. I even had crushes in the first grade... Love the card with Redoute's rose on it, so pretty!

Love the labels, they are pretty. I don't do much for Valentines Day either. We just have a cozy dinner at home.

I have been looking forward to Valentine's Day, too, Jacqueline. Perusing cards, choosing stickers, buying special stamps, filling heart-shaped boxes with "conversation hearts" to give away (remember those?) AND.... I found those dear 'Little Debbie' pink and white heart cakes you showed us last year and over the course of a week I devoured an entire box! HAH! Just getting into the spirit.....
