Out & About . . .

Rue de Lillie in Summerland, CA is the kind of elegant little shop that makes you want to re-think your whole life. Filled with delightful imports from France, it inspires a way of life that seems possible even if only in the smallest corners of your home.

The rooms of the shop itself are diminutive but packed to the rafters with old baskets, art, books on design, and elegant French antiques. It the kind of place you hate to leave behind, but that also somehow manages to stay with you a long time. We try to visit any time we are close by.

It's been cooler than normal on the west coast, and folks actually think they're having winter! We left home at
30 degrees and never looked back!

Hope you're having a fine time too!
Happy weekend!

  4. I love your travels, you are fortunate to go such nifty places.

What a neat shoppe! We have a Rue de Lilly <spelled that way here in my little town, and it is all small and cute and Frenchie too- nothing like that big store, but very charming...if not pricey...but it is a great place for unique gifts for certain!

  5. Uh Oh, you took me shopping again! I'll take those sweet red and white linen napkins/placemats or whatever they are, (i like them), and that whole red wall with the blue and white plates, and that topiary that is outside please...
    Thank you!

  6. Yes, we California wimps are ready for the cold spell to end. I usually do a day trip to the fun shops in Summerland with friends. It is just a 15 minute drive, but we don't go often enough.

  7. What fun you must have had. I already see several things I'd like to have. I don't think I've been to summerland before and I'm a native Californian but then I haven't lived there forever. You made me laugh about the weather. Its been -5 here for too long. N.

  8. It looks wonderful. I think, like you, I could spend ages.....and probably a lot of money there! It certainly, from your picture, gives lots of ideas and makes you want to change your own things around! Joan
