The Country Side

Fall always has me feeling on the country side of cottage. I'm trying out sage green today.

The smallest of changes can produce a big impact in plain rooms like this antique pieced quilt does. Even the pale color is a standout. Add a sage green basket, a green trimmed bowl, and you have a whole new mood. I add a few things. . . .  I take them away again. . . .  I still feel best with a quiet spareness for now.

A weathered ironstone jug from our rambles through Utah this summer joins the collection in the cabinet.

One of my big recent inspirations is a life less ordinary by Zoe Ellison, and Alex Legendre of i gigi general store, Brighton, England.

The best gift I have given myself of late. All soft, warm, and gorgeous like an early autumn afternoon.

I've been nursing a cold. The day has turned blustery. Mellow and jazzy Coffee House tunes are playing on my satellite radio. I think I'll take it easy for a while longer.

How's your week been going?
I hope you're finding wonderful inspirations of your own. . . .

Jacqueline

Take care of that cold. I don't know if I'm fighting allergies or an oncoming cold but I feel awful. Had a very quiet day.

  15. You find the most amazing books to read and look over for inspiration. The green quilt caught my eye. Every time I find a quilt I like, I pull up the price tag and almost pass out from the price.

  23. Jacqueline ~ love your sage green and white quilt! I did my kitchen in those exact colors and I never tire of their refreshing clean look. Those colors are very calming to me.
Our fall is still warm and quite dry, most unusual for here, but I'm sure colder, damp days are coming soon.

  25. Hello Jacqueline, I love all of the soft colors and the whites. The sage green and white quilt reminds me of sleeping over at my grandmothers farm in the winter. There was no central heat and we would all huddle together under lovely quilts like this one. It is a very pleasant memory for me. Your home evokes the wonderful images of Grannies farmhouse. Thank you!

  28. Your rooms are such a retreat, Jacqueline. Whenever I see a corner of your home it's so easy to imagine sinking down into a chair and vanishing into your home's warmth. It's surprising how that little touch of sage changes that corner of the room. I hope you're ejoying your new book!
