It's Jenny Partridge weather! Low temperatures, a monotone landscape, and an overcast sky. . . With a name like Partridge it seems like destiny that you would become the author of books about Oakapple Wood with their nesty illustrations and woodsy characters. Delightful! Even her drawings seem nestled into nests!
(For the record though, the illustration above is from Bird Egg Feather Nest, by Maryjo Koch, another wonderful illustrator.) But anyway, when is it not nesting weather? For your weekend nesting pleasure, I have put together a few pictures of eggs and nests with a few bunny drawings thrown in for good measure. A little hot tea, and buttered scones, and you're ready to settle down into a cozy little storybook tale for the weekend. . . .
I can't wait until the landscape bursts forth with a little more color!
In the meantime. . . let's hunker down!
Hope you have a great weekend. . .
Jacqueline

Jacqueline, I have Maryjo Koch's series of books, but Bird Egg Feather Nest is still my very favorite. Such a pleasure to sit down and enjoy her books, even after all these years. I feel the same about your posts full of gorgeous images. Thank you!

ReplyDeleteJacqueline,
ReplyDeleteOh, dear friend,I am so totally relaxed from this post!!! I had intended to do some MAJOR cleaning today, but I feel a snuggle time with a book and possibly a nap coming on for today's agenda, instead!!!:)
Outside our windows for far too long we've had the brown of drought. Now the ground is mounded with drifts of SNOW and more predicted for our area on Monday! I LOVE SNOW...and I'll be excited to possibly see green, once again in its aftermath!!!
Have a truly blessed weekend!!!
Fondly,
Pat

The illustrations look so pretty with your vignettes and your mosaics. I love those bunny drawings and the way they are, as you said, nestled into the page. laurie
ReplyDeleteIt was certainly a nesting weekend, Jacqueline. I busied myself with yarn and reading and lots of tea. These drawings are so delightful. Each time you bring out her books I'm just amazed at the details and charm. I love sepia drawings and these vignettes are perfect for a late winter's day. (LATE winter... my doesn't that sound promising???)
