You most likely have a small mental list of a few things that just say Summer Time to you. (Or even a long one!) I look forward to buying my first pot of white hydrangeas of the season when they finally turn up here, for instance. I don't think they are utterly impossible to grow in our region, but hydrangeas certainly aren't commonly grown here. (I have a big enough challenge keeping them alive in the pots!)
I love wicker anytime too, but I especially love it in summer. But wicker is another of those things that isn't so common here. Not sure why. . . . But good old wicker doesn't turn up in local markets much, so I get a thrill when I find a nice vintage piece. So naturally I'm loving my flowers in this lovely old florist basket!
I also came across a sweet little woven tray in a natural finish with great patina not long ago. I'm using it to showcase my new copy of Jeanne d'Arc Living. (Love that cover!!) But it's been keeping time on this chippy painted table in our living room for awhile now.
I like having a coffee table, but to me our sitting room always seems too small. The man of the house loved it right away when I brought it in to try it out. Especially good for cold summer drinks. And hey! It's summer time, and the living should be easy!
Are you enjoying easing into summer too?
Inside or out,
I hope it's a great week for you!
Jacqueline

Hi Jacqueline,
ReplyDeleteI find myself wishing that lilacs would grow here in FL as well as peonies. I was happy to find that hydrangeas grow here but they don't get a chance to dry on the vines like in so many other places. Thank heaven for florist that bring our favorites to us. Enjoy yours and I do hope they last for a long time for you.
Becky
Your summer whites are beautiful! I haven't seen white hydrangea plants here. They really are lovely, especially in your white wicker basket.

The first time I saw white hydrangeas, I was instantly in love. I mean really what's not to love? White + Hydrangeas = Perfection.
ReplyDeleteSummertime is all about white. White days, white clothing, white sand, and white lightnin'!

Lovely hydrangeas and I love that cover too, that is the first thing I said when I got my copy.

Oh, Jacqueline, how lovely!! Especially the shot of your patio---oh how I'd love to be there chatting with you!!! And maybe having a bowl of hubby's onion soup! Gorgeous hydrangeas! Mine are just getting blooms on them. Love hydrangeas and your white ones are fabulous! Kay
ReplyDeleteWhat a precious collection of little clocks. I wish I could find an easy way to get a copy of Jeanne d'Arc Living Magazine. I ordered on-line and then the seller stopped selling them. Do you find these magazines in antique stores?
ReplyDeleteHola. No había visto hortensias tan blancas. Aquí hay muchas, de muchos colores, pero no recuerdo haber visto unas así.
ReplyDeleteMuy lindo tu blog, felicidades.

I love the old wicker flower basket and the tray. Perfect for summer. And so are hydrangeas which, depending on the type, bloom beautifully here all summer and fall. It's too bad they don't grow well there. But at least you can buy potted ones to enjoy.. Have a great week. Pamela
ReplyDeleteWhite hydrangeas, wicker baskets, ironstone jugs, vintage clocks, lace bunting ... all those things make me happy. Your sitting area is fabulous!
ReplyDeleteJulia

ReplyDeleteWe are easing into summer here in the Dallas area..thank goodness. It could be much hotter than it is. :)
We are still trying to ease into spring lol! 50's and rainy today! I love the white hydrangea and haven't seen it before...such a lovely variety!
ReplyDeleteWhat an inviting spot to sit and enjoy the great outdoors!

Beautiful post, as always, Jacqueline. Yes, white hydrangeas say summer to me. I don't grow them in the garden, but always buy the plant to keep indoors for as long as it will bloom. Then I transplant it to the garden hoping it will take off. Never has! ;-)
ReplyDeleteVintage white wicker is a favorite for me too. When we first married, we furnished our small house with pieces that we found at yard sales. Still have several pieces of it that we use in a guest room.
The flowers are just perfect in that gorgeous wicker basket. Great kick off to the summer!

ReplyDeleteOh my, I loved my strool through your beautiful whites. Those flowers are so beautiful and your white wicker basket is perfect for them to rest in. It's 3:30 in the morning and I can't sleep. I feel Like I am in the clouds here at your place.

Hi Jacqueline, Beautiful! I love the white hydrangeas and your ironstone pitchers are gorgeous.

I usually love the colored hydrangeas but the white you have are breath taking, so gorgeous. Is there a specific name for those? I'm thinking lace cap but don't know that much about hydrangeas. It's too dry here (western CO) and hot I think to grow them. Oh how I wish we could. It took 4 yrs for my lilac bushes to bloom. Enjoy your beautiful hydrangeas and your wonderful table scapes, so pretty.
ReplyDeleteThat florist basket is so dear, Jacqueline, and perfect with those lovely hydrangea blossoms. You capture the beauty and idleness of summer so perfectly in your images...
