Fun With Little Debbie Cakes

I like when you can do something cute, but fun and easy. I noticed these Little Debbie cakes in the grocery the other day, and they reminded me of my pale pink tea set that some of you ask about. The china pattern is Royal Pettau, marked Germany US Zone.

The pale pinks are similar, and I love the understated color. Rather than red for Valentines, I felt like the ivories and whites with just a touch of pink today. The little cakes are perfect for just a bite of sweetness. The grand-girls love them of course! And they're perfect with a spot of tea.

Book pages are from A Country Diary, and lend the vintage look I love with the ecru lace.

I hope your week is full of hearts and flowers!

Teacups, Florals, & Fleurs

On Groundhog Day we turned the unofficial corner toward spring. Or is it official? This year of all years, come what still may, at least our thoughts have gone around that bend. It's not at all unusual for our spring blossoms to freeze around here. And it seems a given this year.

But blooms will come. And while we await their arrival, a gathering of hothouse flowers, rose strewn teacups, and crisp floral fabrics stand in beautifully in their stead. . . .

I hope you have a cheery (and SUPER) weekend ahead, my friends!

French Cream Tablescape

French cooking can include a lot of cream, but I love creamy dishes on the tabletop too.

I want to please the eye as much as the appetite, and creamy vintage plates and bowls really do it for me. When there are only a few of us at the table there are a lot of entertaining options in my mix and match china. Today it gets to be red transferware, and creamy French bowls.

I love informal family style dining. Place the napkins and flatware in the center, and everyone can find what they need. Big linen napkins are a staple.

I always love using my fat and heavy French ironstone bowls at the table.

 I wish I had a dozen.

A darker lace runner defines the place-setting on top of the white matelasse tablecloth.

Another vintage lace runner dresses a wooden tray.

Ironstone jugs can serve water or drinks, but I just wanted them to look at. Without them there wouldn't be nearly enough of the creamy look I was after.

It's February!
I hope it's off to a good start for you!
