There never seems to be enough time for relaxed visiting during the actual holidays. That's why January can be a prime time for extending the festivities.
But when isn't it a good time for friends and good food and conversation? I've pulled out my familiar things, added a bit of something new, and given it all a twist for this table.
The bit of new is the pear candles I got for Christmas. To me they lend a continental air to a presentation that's already leaning in that direction.
I get the lust for travel at the first of the year, so a setting like this takes me away in my imagination for just a little while. My new vintage napkins are making one more appearance here this season. China is vintage Queensware by Wedgewood.
Flatware is vintage Wallace sterling. I love bit of glint and gleam at the dinner table.
My usual mix and match vintage bistro glasses.
My place card holders are simple slotted glass ones from the stationary store.
I'm using my Pottery Barn script napkins as placemats. I layered a tapestry over the table linens, and the placemats offer a little protection.
Urns and books are the foundation for more large candles for the centerpiece.
You may remember the travel motif bowls by William Sonoma.
Thanks for your visit! Come again soon!
Ciao! for now!

Oh my, oh my...this is just gorgeous!!! I love the queensware dishes (I have a very few pieces), love the monogrammed napkins, and the Wallace Rosepoint(I have a lemon fork...that's it)is gorgeous. My heart goes pitter-patter for this!!!
ReplyDeleteI was already lusting over the napkins i thought were a tablecloth!! I love the look. It's amazing. the books and urns certainly make the table look terrific. I love the pear shaped candles too. It's very beautiful.
ReplyDeleteDear Jacqueline,
ReplyDeleteEverything is so beautiful and inviting! So what did you serve for dinner? Maybe French onion soup (even though you have no bowls set out)? I remember it being delicious. Several Christmases ago, I received three pear candles. They are a beautiful rosy, pinky color. I've set them out many, many times but have never burned them. I know you did a post about using your rose candles, I believe it was. But there's something in my head that says, to not use them up. Kind of like using the last beautiful note card or piece of stationary in a box! I want to keep them for some reason---??their beauty's sake, I suppose. But then what do you do with them? So maybe I will burn them soon. But then, maybe not! As always, love your photography. So beautiful!
Love, Kay
Fabulous Wedgewood plates: A bit of history encapsulated on an incredibly well-set table! The pear candles look quite at home, but I'm astounded at how you were able to capture the depth of your Wallace sterling!
