We've reached the waiting season. Hibernation. The heart rate slows, we add a little fat, and scan the outdoors for any promise of spring. If you garden, you're making big plans which may half pan out.
With the bustle far behind us, it's all about the domestic arts. Cooking, sewing, home projects. January is a big furniture and appliance month in retail.
Since I'm NOT a gardener, my garden flowers are mostly the print variety. Vintage fabrics and botanicals. And I can never get enough of either one.
These vintage "rose on cream" panels remind me of a Geoffrey Bennison print--the Brit designer who really first coined the phrase "shabby, but chic."
These delicate book plates bring out just the same tones with their pale blooms on an ivory ground.
Perusing an antique flower book on display is a cheery low energy pastime.
Deep winter is just about the only time on the calender that may be purely about choice. Few demanding holidays. Not much yard work. (UNLESS YOU ARE SHOVELING SNOW! SORRY!) So I hope you're getting plenty of dream time in, or at least time for what you love best.
Thanks so much for stopping by!
Ciao! for now!
Jacqueline
