I've always been attracted to the Victorian studies of scientists and scholars you see in movies. All the old bug collections, boxes of shells, books, botanical prints, and pots and jars of who knows what. The kinds of rooms with piles of ancient leather-bound books on the natural world laying open on an immense library table in a secluded room somewhere.
I've not invested much in the real thing. But I have a smattering of old bird and garden prints and books. And I'm an utter fool for naturalist cards and stationary, and use them for everything.
I really can't wait until all the flowers, birds, and bugs are back. . . . But for today, this is my vintage inspiration for Spring.
I'm glad you fluttered by!
Ciao! for now!

Your spring inspiration is right up my alley. I love the old pictures and your flowers are in perfect harmony!!! A very lovely post.
ReplyDeleteAll birds all the time is my mantra. That book looks wonderful and I adore your vignette. Visiting from Debra's. ♥O
ReplyDeleteI love your rimmed bowl (a soup bowl?) and the beautiful bird book. A very delightful inspiration for spring. We have a blizzard coming tomorrow so I'm drinking up all the pretty pictures on blogs from warmer climes:-)
ReplyDeleteHi Jacqueline,
ReplyDeleteLovely, and a glimps of my favorite plates on the wall:-)
You always have great books... I feel I am ready to pop my cocoon and fly, but the jokes on me... snow here...haha!
Hugs,
Bella

Beautiful old Chapman book. Lucky you!
ReplyDeleteJacqueline,
ReplyDeleteYou and I are on the same wave length with this naturalist look. It reminds me of your "Romancing the Mensroom" post. I just love the romance of the adventurer. It can be Hemingway or Beatirx Potter along an English countryside road, I just adore the influence it has on interior design. Very nice! And I think you have inspired me for Monday. I'll keep thinking on it. LOL
Thanks for linking up!

Very pretty I find these very appealing too...dried flowers and botanical prints...lovely.(-:
ReplyDeleteMy dad had a room full of bookcases pilled high with books full of all sorts, the books over flowed into the lounge as well. He loves books like this full of nature I think it rubbed off. I absolutley adore butterflys. I like pictures with flowers that have bumble beas & lady birds, makes me feel like a kid again always playing out doors instead of stuck behind a desk. thanks for sharing have a good weekend
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful combination! Love the old books mixed with the roses, and I adore that you threw in a pretty plate, too.
ReplyDeleteYour vignette is beautiful! I love all your beautiful plates.

Oh my goodness this is so sweet! It's too dark and gray outside today for spring flowers, but I am in the notion to get rid of my Valentine's hearts and put up something new..I think you have just inspired me to gather up the birds and nests and bees and things...thanks for sharing such a special vignette!

Such a perfect display for spring, Jacqueline. Have you ever seen the movie 'Practical Magic' with Sandra Bullock? You would love the setting of the Aunts' old house.
