Blue & White In Your Home

The crispness of blue and white has such appeal. Especially in stripes. It seems a universally appreciated combination worldwide. Even the ancient Mayans had their version in pottery.

My inspiration here is the thick striped cotton throw I came across recently without having to travel to Central America to get it. It takes my blue transfer ware from English to ethnic.

I don't use my blue often. But it's energizing when I do. It's always so fresh.

Victoria's Hearst Publication, Blue & White In Your Home, helps me stage my Limoges Eiffel Tower souvenir alongside a pair of inherited silver-lined blue glass shakers. The blue tile house numbers like these from the illustration are mounted on addresses in many places throughout Europe. 

My china pattern is Asiatic Pheasant by Johnson Bros.

I'm looking forward to seeing this table cover piled with sunflowers come summer.

This oversize pair of vintage shakers under glass blend right in with a single blue transfer ware plate of a separate pattern. So many to mix and match.

A stack of crisp white vintage damask napkins finishes everything off, and compliments the nubby tablecloth nicely. Blue & White transports me to anywhere on the planet I wish to be.
