Just because you're roughing it doesn't mean you can't set a pretty table.
Roadside flowers work as well as those from the florist.
Primitive elements look terrific matched up with a few fine things.
Vintage towels have the heft to stand up to the outdoors, and are always elegant with their hand worked edges.
A little wild sprig looks cheery and sweet.
A bit of lace on a rusty table to lay your table setting on.
Hand blown glass seems perfect in this antique trug.

ReplyDeleteOh my Jacqueline, this is simplicity and beauty at its best. The contrast between the rustic and the fine things on and around the table is really lovely. Even the ABQ heat wouldn't stop me from being comfortable and cool in this setting!

ReplyDeleteI just love your photos and the crochet pieces are lovely. I have long wanted to follow in my grandmother's footsteps and add lovely crochet edges to all my pillow cases and towels....sigh.
ReplyDeleteOf course their pillow cases and sheets were such heavy duty fabric they lasted forever. I still have some of her edgings cut off old cases and meant to be sewn back onto new ones. Because of their age I have never used them for their intended purpose.

ReplyDeleteLove the glasses in your old trug. My Dad made a trug for me out of beautiful old walnut. I have it in my potting shed but it is too beautiful to use. Thanks for the great idea...it's coming into the cottage!
