A Little Shabby California Dreaming

I wasn't sure we would get to stop here this time going through L.A., so I didn't get my hopes up. I felt a visit was optional. L.A. traffic is just crazy!

But once you step through the doors, you forget all that. In fact, I practically forget to breathe. . .

Just a stroll through the rooms and my head fills with inadequate superlatives.

Surging inspiration. . . . A shop like no other. . . . But always with some little down to earth touches like the vintage glassware that I already own some of. Only mine never looks quite this good. . . .

I think that I may have lost consciousness for a moment somewhere about here. . .

What more is there to say?

If you ever get a chance to float through. . . . Do. . . .

Jacqueline

  8. Curious as to how much the glassware was. I saw that pattern in Goodwill just the other day for .49 cents each. Didn't buy them though. Up here they're a tough sell. Fun store...thanks for the pics!

  9. After gulping and swooning I decided to check the shop out online - and that first floral pillow is $328.00?????????

    Hrm.

I wonder why. Surely people aren't spending that one one pillow? How could they possibly justify that?

Just wondering why the prices are so exorbitant, makes no sense to me whatsoever. Not to dismiss how LOVELY and DREAM WORTHY everything is, but a shope like that has high overhead, yes, but a $328 pillow? There must be buyers, and I shudder when considering what that actually means deep down.

Anyway, loved it, J - thanks for the eye candy heavenliness.

  10. Dear Michele: Yes the prices are up there in the ether. We think of dear R.A. as one of us, but she is a sought after, world class designer with prices to match.

  12. The most beautiful post about her shop that i have ever read...and the most beautiful post that i have read in a long time. I want a pair of her pj's so badly but online they never have my size. Thank you. For taking us into her beauty with you. Your words make it it even more dreamy than it already is. I will never part with my collection of Rachel Ashwell Shabby Chic Couture.

  16. It' all so clean and white. I'm sure any of those things (at least the pillows and slipcovers) would last about 30 minutes in my house! If I didn't spill tea on them, Lizzie Coco would surely leave a trail of black fur!

  18. Oh, lucky you! I love her sweetly simple style. One of these days I am going to paint everything white.... until then I can soak it all in. I just bought her new book, 'Couture Prairie' about her ranch in Texas that she turned into a bed and breakfast. It is so inspiring. I think I would have chained myself to that pink cupboard until someone let me drag it home....xo Karen

  20. Well I was going to bite the bullet and go up there but, if her prices are that high guess it's Good Will and SA for me.
She does have stunning things though. Thanks so much for sharing with us.

  29. Jacqueline I would love to float through this shop. Everything is dreamy. I love the chippy cabinet in pink. My hubby and I are going to spend 3 days at her Texas cottages in the Cornflower Cottage in Dec. She has a shop on the property too and I hope it will be open then. The place is booked solid and every cottage pictured in RA's new book is reserved. I was thrilled we were able to get a booking at all.
I will take lots of pics to share in a post.
Love her new book sharing the love she has for Texas.
    Thanks for sharing.
    Hugs

  30. Your photography is fabulous. I don't know how you could remember to take photos when there is all that beauty around, but I'm so glad you did. I still think you should publish a coffee table book of your photos.

  32. Jacqueline,
So~o~o glad you were ableto make the stop to visit this amazing shop!!!
I adore the merchandising throughout!!! I use to display the quilts similar to those pillows in the Antique Shop where I previously worked. My employer told me that several patrons had asked if I would come arrange their linen closets! ;)
    Thanks for sharing with us!!!
