Classic Ironstone Pitchers

Everyone knows that pitchers are a staple of cottage or farmhouse style. The variety is endless. But I find myself drawn to a few classic examples.

Ironstone pitchers are the workhorses of the class of course. Once as common as the kitchen sink, many samples survive to retire to a life of luxury on a shelf or table, filled with flowers . . . or not.

Wouldn't it be nice if all of our modern kitchen or bath necessities could be made as beautifully?

Here are a few more delightful shapes and silhouettes of my favorite china accessory.

I had to throw in this lovely little English bee skep pitcher by Royal Winton. What would summer be like without a little whimsy?

Our August days are turning out mild and lovely.
 I hope yours are too!
Ciao! for now!

Jacqueline

  17. Love your collection of white pitchers. All your photography is stunning, but my favorite is the second photo, I think, with the pitchers in the side cupboard, the beautiful cloth on the table, the yellow roses off to the side of the table and the lacy top of the chair just peeking out. Just a beautiful photo on so many levels. Blessings

Question I've been wondering...what makes it ironstone? I have some vintage pitchers and I'm wondering if they are true ironstone.
