Sometimes things just don't work out. We passed through Eaton, Colorado (north of Denver) on a Wednesday, and the shop I wanted to visit is only open on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. It stings a little more, though, when the windows you have your nosed pressed up against look like this! Even the Hubs can't wait to go back.
I have been following The French Corner here on Facebook for a while now. I can't even tell you when or how I first heard about their wonderful little shop, but it has definitely been on my "places to visit" list since then. And I haven't given up! I will return again someday in the not too distant future. (We are only a mere 500 miles apart after all...)
I got plenty of inspiration by just peeking through the windows. And you can do a little of that too by visiting the website @http://www.thefrenchcornershop.com/ The shop carries Jeanne D'arc Living Magazine as well as a few products online.
Can you even imagine what lies beyond these delectable window panes?
We're still traveling a few summer roads before it's all done!
I hope it's a sweet last weekend of August ahead for you. . . .
Jacqueline
Some days in late August at home are like this, the air thin and eager like this, with something in it sad and nostalgic and familiar.
Oh, my goodness. I see so many things I would like to buy. We have not gone on too many weekend trips this year and I miss it. The heat has been horrible. Next weekend I am hoping we get out and I can visit some little shops in our area.
ReplyDeleteOh my Jacqueline I would have stayed overnight and came back the next morning. I see so many things I would want in that shop too. You have such good will power my friend.
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Kris
Oh yes I would like to go inside and touch the wonderful painted furniture and that Bakery out back sounds good also
ReplyDeleteDarn it why is wonderful shops always hundreds of miles away from where we live?
Hi Jacqueline, I see you've discovered one of my favorite shops here in Colorado. You may have heard about it on my blog. Here's the link. Happy shopping!! Pat

Hello Jacqueline~
ReplyDeleteWhen I saw your post my heart skipped a beat!
I have been to the FQ shop (I live about 2 hours away)
and it is as amazing as it looks!! (and more so : )
I met a friend near Eaton and we shopped and even had a wonderful coffee and pastry there in the nook of the shop~ I left with some incredible finds.
The French Quarters actually have 2 shops in Eaton; but one
is closing - ironically this week-end is the last 3 days.
I hope you can make it back sometime!
Karen O (in Colo. Spgs., CO)
I'm with Kris on this - I would have stayed overnight and shopped on Thursday. Glad you had a lovely summer road trip. I'm itching for one but haven't been able to manage with my precious little Gracie (5 lb Yorkie) having congestive heart failure. Treating her is soooo expensive, but worth every cent (right, Kris).
ReplyDeleteSo not fair Jacqueline that I don't live closer to this shop....
ReplyDeleteIt's shops like thiis one that really take me to those awwww moments!
I bet you were also amazed and took in every inch of it.
We have a shop here that is open Thursday-Saturday and its word out quite well for the proprietors,
And we look forward to every Thursday now!
Most of our shops that have this kind of French language are down in our beach cities.
This shop is encouraging a shopping day out of me :)
Talk soon dear,
Thank you for the beautiful window shopping here.
Xx

Ohhh that would be frustrating! it makes me think of those old target commercials.. "open, open.. open" The widow is a wonderful tease of what lies inside :-)
ReplyDeleteglad to see your happy trails continue... miss you...
This is completely charming! I would want to go back, too! I know what you mean about traveling the summer roads while you can. We just got back from Martha's Vineyard (you would love it) and off to Canada... I'm almost wanting to stay home. Almost!
ReplyDeleteJacqueline,
ReplyDeleteOh, my goodness, dear friend, what an amazing shop!
I know that "sunk" feeling one gets when you miss the opportunity to shop!
"Mr. Ed" and I have had that happen to us several times while on vacation.
I try now to get current addresses, dates and times a week before vacation,
but sometimes businesses don't update their information when a change occurs!
Thank you for allowing us to "peek" in the windows with you!
I l o v e the carousel horse painted white!
Fondly,
Pat
It is wonderful to explore new shops! In California I used to spend time exploring shops in the city of Orange and here in Oregon explore shops here in Oregon City downtown as well as the numerous shops in Aurora, OR
ReplyDeleteSuch charming items! I am so drooling ♥

Ohh what a wonderful place. I would have been heartbroken that it was closed. It just looks like your kind of place! Dianne
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun shop!
ReplyDeleteI have that desk! What a surprise to see it.
ReplyDeleteHappy and safe travels.
Oh my....that would be an interesting place to visit!! Tell me some good places in and around Taos, New Mexico??? I know, I know...it's a long way from you, but you get around more than I do :^) We are planning a slow journey up that way, and I don't know a THING about where we are going......
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
J
When my in-laws were alive they lived near Denver. Oh how I would love to still be traveling that way just so I could stop here. It looks wonderful.
ReplyDeleteWhat a darling shop. I'm sorry it was closed. What cute windows. I hope you get to return to it someday.
