You've heard of a victory garden. Well, this one is a survival garden. And it's the plants that have been doing the "surviving". (Mr. Cottage just gave me instructions to NOT mention his name in this post! (*wink*))
The roses are offerering their own reward by showing vigorous growth after an early spring pruning. When they emerge from the bud maybe you will recognize one or two, as we are not on a first name basis with them ourselves.
The vines have just errupted with tiny green leaves and lend the garden wall the appearance of a giant ogre in some fairy story. One in which the hairy monster will soon transform itself into an enchanted doorway. Thank goodness this change takes place without any assistance fom us!
Periwinkle? And a few early cherries.
. . . And so, how does YOUR garden grow?
I'm off to check on the beanstalks!
Jacqueline

ReplyDeleteYou're welcome. ;)
How beautiful! The door with the vine is so cozy, love it! I was looking for the same jars for my jam, couldn't find it...

Beautiful flowers.Oh my flowers are in a bit of a shock these days. One day the temperature is 35 and the next 70.My poor flowers are not doing well.I am hoping for warm weather soon.
ReplyDeleteAnne
Such pretty flowers, but I'm afraid I have no idea what they are. Your terrain is so different from ours, but beautiful, just the same. Our snow is gone and the grass and, unfortunately, the dandelions are growing like the weeds they are. Other than that, nothing is blooming yet.
ReplyDeleteOlá! Lindas flores e hortências, embelezam o seu jardim! Abraço
ReplyDeleteLoved your description of the vine on the wal...I could really see it!!...Just a thought...does this make me mad!!?

The stone wall image you posted is absolutely amazing. I used to live in Albuquerque NM. Betcha it has changed a lot since I left. It was a wonderful place to grow up. How long have you lived there?

Gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteESPECIALLY love that thick brown wooden door...and your lovely plants! WOW!
I think I want to plant a snowball bush, they're awesome. I wonder if they grow around here?
Keep up the good work, Jacqueline, looks stunning!
I have been spending my spring gardening in this dance of checking the nightly temperature, if frost is on the dance card ~~~ then out comes every extra sheet & towel for the covering of the gardens. In the morning the covers come off, and we start again. That is spring in Wisconsin!
ReplyDeleteYour flowers & photos are simply lovely.
Kari
Everything looks so pretty. That stone wall is amazing.
ReplyDeleteLaura
What ever it is it is has such a gorgeous color!
ReplyDeleteYour snowball bush looks great for the first year.
That pink bush is just gorgeous! What a wonderful welcome to your garden. And I love snowball bushes! We had one in our back yard when we lived there so long ago. Your ivy covered wall and that beautiful wood door look like a fabulous entrance to a secret garden, where I imagine you will have set up some wonderful vignettes and tablescapes!! I checked ABQ weather---sunny and 80's next 10 days--you live in paradise! (high winds and all)! Love, Kay
ReplyDeleteHi Jacqueline: Beautiful flowers and I love the door (gate). Is that your front door? I think those pink flowers might be nemisia. Don't know if that's how you spell it. I know the little purple ones are periwinkle, but we used to call them myrtle..Happy Sunday..Judy
ReplyDeleteYour flowers are beautiful and I just love the hairy doorway, that must look really neat when full grown in. I hope you love your snowball bush. We have around 10 of them around the gardens and they are one of my favorite bushes, so fluffy and white. My kids like to have snowball fights with them, just not as cold as the real ones.
ReplyDeleteLove those pink flowers! Don't know what they are, but they are lovely. The wall and door are enchanting.
ReplyDeleteOh! That pink flower is just delightful and so Happy! You'll love your snowball bush, it looks really good for it's second year... and the wall with the vines is awesome! What a great photo and description...
ReplyDeleteCindy
What a remarkable shade of pink! So pretty. I love the garden door, Jacqueline. It does look like fairies (or Lions, Witches and Princes) might live beyond it. I'm glad you're enjoying your garden so much. I wait all winter for this time of year and each time I glance out the window I just smile and smile. Take care!
