I hope you're enjoying the long weekend if you're getting one! We took a little getaway to visit my daughter for her birthday, and got in a bit of shopping as well.
A fleamarket in her neighborhood turned up a few Euro treasures including this old English transferware pot. Her small town in New Mexico might be a surprising spot for something like this, but you never know where you will find things! That's the thrill of junking!
My strategy when I am not under pressure in a quiet market is to survey everything, and then quickly do a second round making a decision on what to pick up. Did I have any doubt about this little gem, even with a good sized chip missing? Nawww!
There are so many ways to display a stocky piece of ironstone like this. And fall is the perfect time for brown transferware! (Do I say that every season?)
Already quite at home, this piece will be front and center on the table top for a few days. I love the romantic ship and leaf motifs. Both sides are the same.
It's so nice that you stopped by for a peek!
Have a wonderful week!
Ciao! for now!

It is so beautiful and in the colours I most love.
ReplyDeleteNice find. I do love transferware in almost any color except pink. I looked at some at Scott's antiques last weekend, but they had extremely high prices on them. I will just keep hunting for a better price.
ReplyDeleteYea! You have a new chamber pot, too. Come see mine - like minds think alike! Sally
ReplyDeleteBeautiful. Brown transferware is my favorite. Great find -I would of bought it with the chip, also.
ReplyDeleteA beautiful fall display!
ReplyDeleteI was wondering if anyone would mention what it is...it is indeed a chamber pot or what the English call a "gezunda" slang for "goes under...the bed". But who cares! I have a whole set of antique Spode including chamber pot and waste bucket in my living room...they are far too beautiful to hide! LOL!

Great transferware! I never mind a few chips or even a crack now and then, only shows someone dearly loved the piece!

I am obsessed with brown and cream transferware right now...it happens every fall to me, but somehow I have not found any in my local area. I may have to resort to buying it online, but it is so much more fun to find it like you did thrifting! Congrats!
