A Taste of Pink

The first time I saw pink used for holiday decorating was probably in the sixties with the advent of the early tinsel trees. Some of the new trees were white, and the spirit of the times invited experimentation with non-traditional schemes.

Rachel Ashwell took the impulse and ran around the block with it, and now some of us can't imagine a world without white, silver, and pastels, especially pink, mixed together in any season.

I tend to hoard my vintage pink "Shiny Brite" ornaments that work so well with the look because I haven't found a large number of them, and use them mostly as a kind of garnish.

But I'm finding their flavor just irresistible!

Thanks for stopping by for a taste!
I hope you're in the pink this weekend!
Ciao! for now!

  1. I love pink with white & either silver or gold at christmas or anytime, its somehow so much classier feeling dont you think than the traditional colours.

  2. Happy Pink Saturday and Happy Holidays to you and your family, Jacqueline.

Your photos are exquisite. What a beautiful way to savor a cup of something warm and soothing - and enjoy the beauty of Christmas.

My parents had a silver tree in the sixties, and my mother decorated it with blue ornaments. It was the kind that came with the rotating color wheel. I thought it was beautiful, and I would sit for hours and watching the colored light reflect the shiny and sparkly decoration.

  3. I'm still a traditional girl but love the look of pink mixed in with Christmas. It's so feminine and girly. We need more girly these days. So thanks for sharing your pretty pink. God bless. Cathy

  8. How lovely the pink is!

It's so funny because I ran into the thrift store this morning after dropping my son off at a church party. I had no plans to do anything except drop and run but then I saw the thrift store open. I actually went in with my "almost pjs" on. Point to all this is that I found a box of beautiful pink vintage ornaments for a total of 30 whole cents. Can you believe it? They are so pretty. I have never used pink in Christmas decor but may have to think about incorporating it next year. If I don't use them, I may just send them your way.

Have a great rest of your day.

  12. Hi Jacqueline, I can imagine a young lady sad for some reason for she had been crying when her beau came in carrying a silver tray overflowing with presents, a silver pitcher and delicate teacup. He sat it down on the table without a word and poured her a cup of peach tea and handed her the pink flowered cup. She began to feel better already. Then came the glittered wrapped presents first a set of silver keys to their new home, second a pink collar for their new dog and last but not least a shiny new ring was bestowed her as he knelt and asked for her hand. What a great story teller you are. I must come back for more to see how it ends. Merry Christmas Terri www.morningdewdrops.typepad.com

  13. I like your pink accents for Christmas, they add a softer touch than red.
I've used pink, lavender and silver for years and just picked up a little turquoise this year to throw in.
A pastel Merry Christmas to you.
