I found a summer, sea blue bowl at the fleamarket the other day. It seemed like serendipity to find it strewn like a beautiful shell cast among the drifty wood piles of junk in the store. . . and at this time of year. . . on a Sunday afternoon when not much else was turning up. I picked it up to look it over, and it whispered something kitten-y soft and opalescent to me. I quickly surveyed the aisles like a pirate with a spyglass in case someone else might hear and consider snatching it away as I clutched it to my chest. But no. It was only for me to possess. Or to BE possessed . . . .
A lacy panel puddles on a brick shore.
Thanks for wading out a little way with me today!
Happy First Day of Summer!
Ciao! for now!
Jacqueline

I can't believe I'm even saying this but I'm 'happy' for that bowl. I'm happy it landed in your loving grip and was placed so beautifully upon its waitig chair. It belongs to you and you belong to it.

Maybe that's what the color of that bowl should be called: beach blue. I can just envision it in the paint aisles in cans labeled "beach blue."

ReplyDeleteHi J,
ReplyDeleteI could learn to love blue, you have made it look soo good today, a really gorgeous vignette! Is the lace on the cahir seat a new piece too, it is perfection:-)) Love the blue bowl, I always feel the same way when I find a treasure, sure someone else will try to steal it away:-)) Sometimes when you pass on something it DOES look better when someone else picks it up, haha!!!
Happy Summer to you!!

Bella

ReplyDeleteDear Bella: No, the lace isn't new. I've shown small bits of it in other posts. Neither is it vintage. I picked it up in a linen shop in Venice a few years ago.
