If it weren't for blogging, many of my happy patio memories of summer would be lost. I love old sepia photos of families gathered on a porch in front of a clapboard house as if to say "This is our life and where we live it." Photos were all shot outdoors in the early days, and we have wonderful old exteriors as a result. We now have many family photos in which our homes are merely background. Who besides bloggers records their home any more with such loving care?
I've already shared several recent posts of my patio dressed for the season, so I've borrowed some of my favorites from the archives that you may remember. It's a fun way to celebrate patio living on this first week of summer!

We had some sun yesterday, which I really enjoyed, but today we're back to the horrid, grey gloom. I haven't even uncovered patio furniture because it's been so chilly, wet, and nasty still. ReplyDeleteI am sad that my porch is on the back of my house, it's very private, a little too much so. I love the wave at and talk to the neighbors kind porch too. We would like to add one to the front of our house, but can't figure out how to in a tasteful sort of way, yet.

Love your porch. The vines, organdy and white tablecloth are such a lovely contrast against the clay walls. Reminds me of our patio (prettier in fact) at the B&B in Sedona. Very soothing look. I was in your area a long, long time ago. My then husband and i drove from NY state to CA to buy a "drag boat" which was really popular. Low profile, car engine thingy. He did like his toys. I remember very well the roads in your area. MTS roads. At least they seemed to be in my memory. Very different but beautiful country from the NE where I grew up. Blessings
