A Patio Garden in the Desert


Mornings are cool on the east patio. And we have our most closely tended pots there. In our desert air they must be watered daily. Sometime later in the season, twice a day. So they have to be nearby where we will notice their needs. There are many local gardeners who have the time or resources to have a lush garden here. But it's labor intensive and time consuming, and our lifestyle doesn't lend itself to tending gardens at this point in our lives. So our essential bit of green and bloom is pocket sized and within arms reach. And it nurtures us on a summer morning every bit as much as the other way around.

    Nice to see you patio and sunshine!!! Love that upshot on the geranium, climbin to the sky :-) and seeing your cilantro made me know I should see if my seeds have sprouted, too cold still, but I keep trying, I love fresh cilantro!! Mmmmm :-)

    How beautiful, I love to have pots on my front door stairs, the problem is when we go out of town, I'm afraid they will die with out water.

    I just love your flowers. My daughter and I picked out some herbs for her to grow in a pot for our deck. She is so cute as she waters them each day! Love this post, what beauty.

    Your posts are always so lovely. It's been a while since I've had time to visit and I have missed your sweet and inspiring posts. I imagine gardening would be a challenge in such a dry climate. Right now we're dealing with the exact opposite. Wettest spring and summer I can ever remember.

    Just perfect, Jacqueline! I'm at that point in my life now, too, where I prefer a few pots and am glad I did perennials in the beds many years ago. I don't have the time or the back anymore! : ) I do some geraniums and other colorful annuals in pots on our patio. I get some flowers/color and I can water them quick.
