There aren't any rules of course, but there are items in my dish collections that tend to emerge mostly in spring. They show up like tulips and daffodils in a sort of bloom from behind the cupboards and drawers.
This little bee skep pitcher is one of them, finding its place on the table after hibernating the winter away in a dark corner.
This early majolica dish says welcome to the season too. And although rose patterned teacups are at home all the year round, a gathering of floral linens and china seem extra perky in spring. . . .

My tablecloths and napkins have gotten "lighter" over the past week or so -- yellows and blues instead of dark reds, greens and browns. And I've changed out the nightlight in the kitchen. In winter it's a clear plastic cat that looks like it's made of ice; in summer it's a seashell; but in spring and autumn it's a little china teapot. Soon the corduroy slipcover will come off the couch and be replaced by linen and battenburg lace. I love your little majolica dish!

ReplyDeleteOh...the roses on the tea cups and saucers are very pretty! I do love roses, especially pink roses! I use my white eyelet tablecloth and the "green" dishes make their debut! Green seems to say Spring in the dining room for me! Lovely post!
