It's that time of year that always seems a bit out of joint to me. Springing forward. I'll be tired for no explainable reason beyond my own circadian rhythm. Circadian, from the Latin circa, around, and diem, day, means someone is just messing around with my day.
I think I am not particularly routine driven until I start yawning too much like I have jet lag. But it's just one little hour. One hour a year that reminds me of my biology and my place in nature.
And it has been one strange revolution, this planetary spin of 365 days, this time around. If not in my corner of the planet, certainly in many others. Maybe yours.
So I will try to just quietly move forward. Carpe diem. Mindful that for me only a small bit of time has been theoretically jerked out from beneath me. And not my home. My world. My life.
I didn't intend to be so heavy. I want your visit here to be a bright spot amid the sometimes dingy reality.
I want to share my particular take on beauty, and a bit of grace.
So I'll finish up by simply saying it's a new day.
Let us rejoice and be glad in it.
That's my wish for us anyway.
Ciao! for now!
Jacqueline

ReplyDeleteJust beautiful Jacqueline! You've elevated simple carnations to art-love the color:@)
ReplyDeleteGorgeous photos! Thank you!
ReplyDeleteI really look forward to your new posts. Again your pictures are lovely. Are you referring to daylight savings? If so I feel the same way. I am in Victoria, BC and I just lost an hour and will be looking forward to the fall when my internal clock is set back to the right time....yawn....happily, Sheryl
ReplyDeleteOh so pretty and fresh. Makes me wanna take out all my white dishes....Christine

Good Morning my sleepy friend :-)
ReplyDeleteI am like you it throws me outta whack for days.. Seeing your pretty pink Carnations ( I am glad someone else loves Carnations they are one of my fav's) and your small flowery pitcher, surely brightened my bleary-eyed morning:-))
Hugs & cheer to you:-)

Dear Jacqueline,
ReplyDeleteYour blog ALWAYS is my bright spot!!! Your words were not heavy at all. The world is in a heavy place right now and, again, your blog is a beautiful reprieve. And today's, with all the beautiful white dishes and lace and pink flowers, is especially so. Not only did we lose that hour and awaken to dark again, it is sooo dark and rainy and gloomy here today. So thank you once again for a beautiful, uplifting post.
Love, Kay
So serene really....like a soft snow fall.
ReplyDeleteRuth
I like your thoughtful post today. I too, find the hour change difficult, especially waking to darkness again. However, there was a brilliant red sunrise and it's quite mild with sunny breaks now. It feels quite springlike here today :-)Hope your afternoon is restful. Pamela
ReplyDeleteI'm not such a big fan of DST myself. But, eventually we all get used to it.
ReplyDeletehugs and have a lovely day.
Sissie

Jet lag definitely describes what I'm feeling.
ReplyDeletePretty pretty photos!
Kelly
Simply lovely, as always!
ReplyDeleteHaving just tried to take pictures of white ironstone for my last tablescape, I have a new appreciation for your photography skills!
I never realized how difficult it is to photograph white objects because you have always made it look so easy. What are the tricks? And what kind of camera do you use?
I tried to find an email address on your blog so that I could ask you these questions by email but was unable to find one. So, any advice that you can give me would be greatly appreciated!
Very pretty, I love your monochromatic vignette. You have a good eye for mixing different textures. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteLove all of your gorgeous white pieces. Such a beautiful vignette. Thanks so much for joining TTT. Hugs, Marty
ReplyDeleteHi Jacqueline,
ReplyDeleteI've just had a chance to catch up on your last few posts. I always enjoy visiting your blog. I just love the pink carnations, white seashells, and the darling white platter with pink rosebuds. We are also tired at our house. I've been looking forward to more daylight after the dreary winter, but it does take a week or more for our bodies to adjust. And you made a good point that we really haven't "lost" very much, compared to others. I assume you refer to the tsunami; my husband and I are so sad to watch the coverage of that disasterous event. Thanks for reminding us of how fortunate we really are.
Denise
Beautiful! God bless you.
