White Winter Cupboard

It's odd to me that winter only begins on the shortest day of the year. It seems like that day should be found smack dab in the middle. Whatever. We celebrated the occasion with food, family, and laughter. We have made it half way through the dark days and long nights! Like the pines, we try to stay green in winter, as Norman Douglas put it. To have wisdom in hardship.

We are among the fortunate who have nothing whatsoever difficult to endure at the moment. But we need look only so far as across the table to find those that do.

So we hang the greens for hope, and twinkling lights against all harshness. Offer up the simple comforts of a roof and stove, and celebrate life. . . .

And what better for a winter celebration than white? Especially when there is almost never a promise here in the desert for any other way to have a White Christmas?

The coziest dishes have huddled together in the cupboard for warmth. And an old bicuit jar still holds the same secrets.

The plates and platters chatter together of savories yet to come.

Few things warm my heart more than cupboard shelves overflowing as in a picture from a nursery story! Especially the child inside of me at Christmas. I thought you might enjoy a peek inside too!

A perfect spot for Santa's cookies!

Wishing you whatever warms your heart most this season!

And a Merry Christmas to you!

Jacqueline
