Happy December!

It's going to be a fat Christmas. I can feel that right now. I don't mean that I'm going to gain weight. (That ALWAYS happens! Haha!) I mean that all the fun stuff is going to come out of the boxes and get put up this year.

I don't have a terrible lot, you know. I tend to decorate mostly with fresh greens and naturals and to simply dress up my usual vintage stuff with a holiday vibe.

So I will pull it all out and see where it goes. From the Shiny Brites to the fuzzy bears. . . . And when I run out gas, or time, it will be okay in baskets or on a chair, as is. I'm pretty good at AS IS!

I have been gathering up a supply of silver and white balls. The sea stars from my mantel redo look right at home tossed in with the stash.

I did finally come across one or two new vintage ornaments.

Opening up all the boxes is a bit like the big morning itself. So fun again to find out what's there. And needing a few batteries to boot!

I tossed a few things here and there for ideas at this point before things get ironed out. (Like that mantel cloth.) Do you do that? This year I want to see just how much I can get piled up onto my skinny mantel.

This photo from the current issue of Cottages and Bungalows magazine is my inspiration. I love the beautiful jumble lined up on a pretty cloth!

The linens and laces here (including the vintage dress) I found in just the last couple of days and I'm seeing how they look in the light of day. A lace curtain covers the chair seat with a lovely lace tablecloth draped over the back.

The little lacy towel draped over the pillow makes me swoon! (I'm loving everything rumpled this season.)

This fantastic cupboard from the same magazine issue has me spinning fantasies. I wish I had one in every room of the house!

Don't know exactly what I'm going to do with mine yet. A dried eucalyptus wreath from last year is adorning the cupboard door for now. . . .

I needed my antique red checked quilt in the worst way this year! It's just waiting patiently here for the moment.

'Tis the season to be jolly!

Always so much to do,
but I hope you are enjoying the process. . . .

A happy first of December to you!

Jacqueline

  1. Jacqueline,
. . .and a Happy FIRST Day of December to you, too, dear friend!!!
Love all you white, especially with all the light reflecting off and surrounding each photo with an ethereal effect!
Fat December, while I like the concept, I'm going for a more streamlined look for Christmas 2015.
Visited a Christmas in the Country Home Tour over the weekend. The 1930's home decor made me instantly think of you!!!

  6. I LOVE it all Jacqueline! I have been thinking the same thing for my mantle too after seeing it. I usually go way too lean on the mantle and think this would be so much fun. I always adore the way you decorate and things are looking so lovely J. Have a wonderful week decorating!

  13. Jacqueline you are so fat over hère. And I am sure it will get fatter :)
Love the whites of course, and to see the greens popping up makes me swoon, I too love the greens over the florals. Your white cabinets and kicthen beauty is just as fabulous as the china cupboard you wished to have in every room. I feel just like you, when I spot something that pulls at me so, I just want more and more of it. I guess we tire of our pieces until it's gone, or we see it in an older post then we say to ourselves wow that pieces is great and it's mine.

You know how much I love your home, and I hope to see more of it this Christmas when you fatten all those rooms up!

Beauty to you and all the beauty you will create here.

    Xx
